What watch for first disassembly tryout?

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a watch just for trying to disassembly it without having to worry about messing it up. I wanna get familiar with the process to be able to open the case and get out the movement of my other watches, a Tag Calibre 36 and a Graham that its (or it will be) on its way home :-), and do more things and have fun in the future.

I was considering buying one cheap watch from ebay, like one from this guy http://shop.ebay.com/nice00watch/m.h..._sop=12&_rdc=1 ($10-$20), or something not that cheap ($70) as http://www.manbushijie.com/productshow-436-6.html (40MM PO).

But my watches have an 7750 movement, so maybe it'll be better a watch with that movement?

I realize that I don't it to be in excellent or new condition, just running to check that keeps running after reassembling. Have our dealers damaged watches that sell at a low price?

Any tip or suggestion is welcome.

I would say just go for it with your watches, I did this with my SA last week (first attempt) to remove a speck of dust from the dial, removing the movement is pretty easy just a few screws, went back together fine too :thumbup:

Could I recommend Rolex Daytona? as it has all the swiss technology and features to be learnt.

Thank you all. I really like to start with a inexpensive watch and not worrying about scratching, not being able to reassembling it or it ending up dead.

I would never imagine that dealextreme had automatic watches. Maybe the easiest way to get one of these. Thank you very much Francisco.

How trustworthy is that site? Looks like some good deals for possible future xmas presents and/or birthdays

I have used them several times without any problems...

Have bought from them several times (gadgets and LED bulbs for the car) On one occasion they omitted something from an order, All they asked was that I send them a pic of the bag it shipped in and the item number that was not there...they replaced it without question

BTW the cell phone jammer does not function on US phones..they skip to another frequency it seems..

I have ordered a few things from them, never had any problems.

Dealextreme is legit but the quality is suspect. If you're looking for cheap hilairous presents or some junk it's fine.

Really?
Buy a Molnija or a 6497 with no complications. Get some decent tools.
You will scratch it, not be able to reassemble it, and it will end up dead.

That, is how you learn.
