hello from the big apple!
Hi everyone! I've been lurking this forum for the past 2 weeks trying to get a handle on all the amazing watches, terms, dealers, and people! This really looks like the starts of an AMAZING hobby...
I already have an order on the way from Andrew, a Seamaster 007 - 40th Anniversary Ed. and a Tag Link with bling bezel for my girl (Valentine's Day was calling!)
So far, I have learned a lot about reputable dealers (I almost fell into the trap of ordering from a scam site -- but I thought, "there HAS to be a forum that discusses these types of sites...") Looks like my instincts were correct... you fine people have not only taught me about where to order, but also introduced me to some fine watches I had NO idea about (the PAMS!)
I'm in NYC -- and I've heard mixed reviews about Chinatown reps (I know, the street vendors suck, but I've been told there are good places to go to if you're in the know). I was thinking some of us should get together this spring and try to find some of the GOOD chinatown spots...
I'll be posting pics of my Omega and the lady's Link as soon as it comes! I'm crossing my fingers on receiving them before Valentine's Day... EMS says they left Shanghai for international dispatch.
I do have ONE question -- I'm wondering if there's any "tutorial" on how to change watch bands/straps. My next purchase is like to be a PO or a PAM, and I'd love to get multiple straps...
And if anyone knows a good watchsmith in NYC who doesn't mind working on reps, I'd love to know!
