Howdy from Oklahoma

Howdy folks from the great state of Oklahoma, where the Men are Men, and the Cows are...... Um...... Scared:eek:!!! This is my first post here and I thought I'd introduce myself. I've been a collector of "Stuff" for years and have just gotten the watch bug in the last couple of years. Up until now I've been buying primarily lower cost gens such from brands as Citizen, Invicta, Orient, Oniss and Nautica.

Recently though I've noticed how nice the quality and accuracy is getting to be in the rep market and have been looking to start collecting reps. Unfortunately, I found this site the day AFTER I made my first purchase. I just bought a Breitling Navitimer World GMT from sinowatches.com, and am waiting on it to arrive. THEN I found RepGeek and found threads where folks have had problems with Sinowatches. Hmmm... All I can do now is hope and switch my next purchases to one of the trusted traders here.

This should be quite an experience. I've never collected items in what could be considered a "Gray" market before and it seems to have it's own set of rules and questions associated with it. Of course, I would never walk into a gen dealer wearing a rep, but how does one go about finding a watchsmith who will work on a rep without problems? Are reps actually legal to own? How much of an issue is it ordering a rep and getting it past customs? Whew! Lots of questions!!

Anyway, I hope to become a regular here and join you guys in your addiction!

Yup, that's a good way of phrasing our hobby ... "gray market". Lots of fun, quite addicting and if you are a watch enthusiast - this will become your new online home.

Shipping is an issue, depending on where your post hub is, the time of year, customs or sometimes delivery is as easy as 1,2,3. It's best to discuss the quickest/easiest way top ship with the RG dealer you order from. They will know.

As long as your not reselling your watch as real or shoping it around to gen stores, you'll be fine.

Discretion is a must in our hobby. Stick w that philospohy, share here w our friendly community and you will be good to go.
