Well Hello,
thought I'd introduce myself & say a little about my love of watches.
I got my first proper watch when I joined the Army and it went from there. G Shocks first. Then divers. I now collect/dive mainly Seiko & citizen dive watches. All on Rubber or Nato/Zulu straps.
Interestingly, my two sons weren't into watches at all till they joined the Army themselves.
First my oldest son Jordan got himself a Tag F1 (Gen) but he killed that on his second tour of Afghanistan :(
Now he has a Seiko SKX031 modded with a 4r36 movement, Milsub hands and a Gen Rolex trip-lock Crown.
Then my Second lad Joshua got himself a Tissot V8 (Gen) he's managed to look after it a bit better then his big brother!
I've come over to this forum for a couple of reasons. I have of late become somewhat disillusioned with the "mainstream" watch forums. Petty squabbles about if a watch is authentic etc.
I'm partially fed up of the borderline prejudice against what they call watches from HHC's (Hot, Humid, Countries. i.e. Thailand, Philippines etc)
My main beater is a Seiko 6309. It matters not that it is bang-on time wise, has masses of power reserve and I'd had it on my wrist diving at 40 meters many, many time. Doing the job it was made for. because I got it from the Philippines & it has an Aftermarket dial & hand set its regarded as 2nd best.
So, one of the guys who's also a member here suggested I pop over and have a look. So I did one evening. Stayed till 2 in the morning!! lol!
I even PM-ed a couple of guys re what watches they actually dived with, they replied right away with intresting, no BS answers. Really helpful.
TBH, its a breath of fresh air, so thanks guys for reawaking my love of watches.
As regards my first Rep? Think its gona be a PAM 243. Seams to be the one people recommend.
One quick question, anyone go a heads up on a UK based watch guy can waterproof & pressure test this beast when I get it?
My usual dude will have nothing to do with Reps.
I look forward to many posts, many answers, many laughs. I'll try to bring as much as I take.
Regards, Scubatime.
