what is it with some of you in the "for sale " section

Posts selling watches with so much crap written about how you believe you decide how the world should spin and who can buy your watch etc blah blah blah
then huge comments about you dont give a ***** if the watch never arrives or is DOA etc . Just how much of a deal do you expect with a attitude like that . Could you run a business like that ? i doubt it !

why should anyone buy a watch of guys like this ? the buyer has "rights" and you should be selling a watch that could be "dead" for all anyone knows hoping your "terms " cover it

That's when knowing who to buy from and who to NOT buy from comes in to play. Feedback is precious, and knowing whether the seller is a known "up-talker" (someone who makes it sound as if his watch for sale has been SOOO hard to make or is the best one available, etc.) or a piece of crap cobbler (who puts parts together but is a shoddy watchsmith).

It's been said many times before elsewhere...buy the seller, then buy the watch.

As far as the comments about caveats made by the seller in sales posts, it's like anything else...the seller wants there to be no miscommunication whatsoever regarding the transaction.

Then again, a seller can say all he wants in an ad...but if a watch arrives not to the buyer's liking, a Paypal dispute may be in the future. So the seller should also "buy the seller".

Vote with your dollars. If you don't agree with the seller's conditions, then move on, simple as that. It's the responsibility of the seller to put as much detail about the watch for sale so that the buyers know what they're in for. If the actual item differs from the advertised item greatly, then you can ask for intervention. Other than that, it's the buyer's prerogative to buy or not buy based on whether you like the watch with all those "flaws" or what not and even if you like the terms attached to the sale. ;)

A lot of buyers with low post counts, limited feedback and entitled attitudes end up being a huge pain in the ass to deal with. Can you imagine?

what I find funny is the guys that have spent tons of money modding a watch expecting to get back every cent on their franken, to me that's just ridiculous. I understand a rare watch, but a fairly common one that you modded with this and that and expecting a humongous price tag is crazy........it is still just a rep folks

and a vintage pam with an angelus stem wound non alarm movement is still a rep too
but you wont be able to buy it unless you have 4k and the seller is strapped for cash
its knowing and understanding what is on offer that counts in this game

Like the OP ? Low post count noobs are a royal pain. I'd rather sell to a well known member for less money.

I agree entirely but a little ageing on a vintage and putting on a gen crown and stem, and maybe a gen crystal do not equal a mega bucks franken. Now a Daytona 6241 with a v72 swiss movment, phong case and ingod dial I can get behind lol

By your own argument though, that would cost mega bucks
and would be ridiculous to sell it at anywhere near the cost of making it

well I am not complaining of a true franken, I am complaining about the people that do a few light mods to an exsisting base watch and then expect a huge amount of cash, and no I wouldn't expect to get all the cash back on all the parts I put into a watch like that. Then again I have yet to sell a rep and doubt I ever will. when I mod something I do it because I am keeping it and I am not afraid to spend my money on it. Even if it just becomes a box queen, who knows when I will want to pull it out again and wear it.

If OP had spent any time reading past threads, important stickies, researching how and why things are they way there are here at RG, He would already answered his own question.
Also, no offense...but Im getting a feeling that OP may have been turned down for a sale.
The whole " I chose my buyer is " is really the last resort of a seller protecting himself from a bad/noob/scammer or just plain dumbass who doesn't bother to contribute to the forum in any way and it has grown out of many a deal gone sour. Is it tough for a member with low count or zero feedback to buy on the sales corner? yes but it can be done, offering to use PP gift, or getting a reference from deals from other sites is helpful. It seems we talk about this same subject every couple of months....

what other "feelings" do you get Gaizka? I have yet to see such bullying and rude adverts on other forums . Anyone would think some members here are so far up their ass , they have to stick a tooth brush through a ear .The way they make such vocal loud statements in their adds. The moment they send the watch they will not entertain any issues ????? who is to say that they are not selling a "pup" and hope their 40204938474 post count will curry favour in a dispute etc ?

Ok..sell to who you want etc . But at least be fair about dealing with any issues rather than huge paragraphs stating they dont give a crap what happens etc

Fairly pointless conversation,disclaimers are there for a reason,buyers can choose to buy or move on.
Seller can choose who and when to sell.

Maybe ,but is part of the game and many noobs understand only attitude.....it wasn't like that before,but as usual thanks to a few that's the way it is now.
And also i'm known to have a bad attitude myself so...who am i to speak.:)

no. a good deal is a reflection on market value
if you want to be profound, I guess you could make the analogy
that demand for something is attributed to the " I want that " synapses
firing in the brain until it becomes obsession for more than a few and actually

Sales are a bit of a minefield, lots of crazy stuff going on, "I'll take that" ....(...and 4 hours later!) ..well wtf are you then?, "I'll give you 60% of your asking price!" ...If i wanted 60% of the asking price I'd have priced it accordingly. :D As eebee and nembo says the 'attitudes' you see sometimes are a way of vetting buyers, no biggy.

It depends on the sale but any seller worth his salt will lay out everything on the table with regard to the watch on sale, full disclosure, how the crown screws and where the scratches are etc. A good buyer similarly will not ask stupid questions like 'Can you fedex it next day to me at the other side of the world' ....on a $400 rep!, If you say you are gonna take it, and you are online, then don't disappear never to be seen again!..and also should not get so hung up on a sense of entitlement to have their PP account rectified immediately if something is wrong with the watch on arrival.

You are buying replicas, but more importantly you are buying 2nd hand items, and there are some chances that it may have a problem on arrival. If there is don't run on the forums wailing 'Scammer' and try to ruin peoples paypal accounts.

I think in fairness most sellers will provide some assistance/help to buyer if a problem occurs with the watch on arrival, but within reason. You are not gonna get a 70% discount because your local postman decided to drop kick the watch a few times before ringing your doorbell.

To be honest, once a seller ships his watch he really have no control of what happens to it. If i were to sell a watch, i really would opt out to refund if the watch is seized. There has to be mutual agreement on this, willing buyer, willing seller.

It's funny that only in the rep world is the seller no longer responsible once the package is mailed out.

Meh. As a low post count noob, I think if I'm selling a watch for $425+shipping+fees used vs the TD price of $460, having the "f-you" attitude to Buyers is kinda weird. Maybe that's why all of my purchases have been from TD's. If it gets lost, is scratched, or DOA... they will fix it.

yeah agreed guys, but lets admit it, by and large feedback is a joke on here. Ive probably had 4 or 5 times the amount of transactions than feedback that I have left for me. Im to the point where I ASK for the seller to submit feedback and he seldom does... Is this really a good example of who you are dealing with? Feedback should be mandatory in any sales thread in my oppinion.
