Hello From Japan!

Currently in Japan for work but returning to the US soon. I bought my first Replica's (I like that work much better;) while in China recently. I have an Omega Speedmaster, and a Panerai Tourbillon that seems to be an exact copy of nothing ever made- though.

Before I bought the Panerai, I barley knew what they were. The Japanese sure know what they are though and I have caught on fast. Now I am a "buff" and I am hoping to buy/mod a good rep as the love of my life: unitl such time as I can afford a real one that is.

Anyways, thanks for this forum - I will enter with great care and respect.

Since you live in Japan now I have a question - what are the laws in Japan regarding replicas and is it difficult to buy them, strict customs?
My wife and me are planning to live there for a year or 2 and I am a little worried if I can bring my watches with me.

I am not certain about the laws here on reps but I have heard they will take them (from the Japanese but they tend to be over sensitive to stuff like that). Personally I have never had a problem and I carry watches (2 are reps) and even some rep clubs back and forth. I think if it is for personal use it's not a problem but if you have 20 of the same kind, they would probaly take them if they checked. They have always been very good to me.

Welcome to repgeeks. I think the Japanese are very sensitive to reps and fakes and it's frowned upon very much in the society but still available of course. They have a big problem with an influx of fake goods from China since the majority of the Asian economy aside from Japan flourishes with fake goods. Even now, they have a big problem with fake Chinese cigarettes that are labelled as Japanese ones getting into the country.

Japan is an amazing place though, do people notice your watches?
