About 30 transactions (no problems yet, touch wood)
Hundreds and hundreds of transaction, never an issue. However, a coworker got a rep PAM Reassessed by Customs with a value of $7000 and the taxes that came along with it.
Of course they can or everyone would buy high dollar value items and just get the seller to provide a low dollar value receipt. They caught on to that many years ago.
That being said, I have a few transactions and as long as the declared value and contents are reasonable they often don't check. I will even ask that the value is above the "no tax"amount just so they don't get suspicious. Haven't had any issues so far with watches, even when they have been declared as "watch" rather than parts or for repair.
Maybe I wasn't clear. Let's say you buy a watch for $1000 and have receipts and credit card stement saying you paid $1000 but they think it's worth $1200 they can and will charge you tax on the $1200. I'd doesn't matter what you can prove.
Another Canuck here!
/\ Me too!!
Another canuck here. Never a problem with ordering from china. Never an issue with getting from the usa or shipping to the usa. Believe it or not the only issue i had was a watch got lost by canada post when i had a fellow geek ship it from Ontario to Manitoba!
Had quite a few shipments and never had any issues.
I had one many many years ago and it wasn't watch related. Bought something from china off ebay and the seller marked it as gift with a nominal amount. so far nothing really that unusual right? well, customs got a hold of it and put a "NOT ALLOWED INTO CANADA" remark on it because the declaration was not true to form. it was not a "GIFT" and was essentially misrepresented on a legal form.
I found this out by following up with customs. this is what they told me. got my money back from the ebay seller eventually, minus all the service fees, so I got like, half the amount.
that was my only incident with customs. all other transactions went alright. I had I think one or two where I had to pay duty and taxes.
Ditto! Never had an issue with canada customs in and out.
Over 100 transactions, never had a problem.
Welcome buddy, there's a lot here to learn :D It is a friendliest place that you can find !
