Anyone else getting this? Both Chrome and Firefox said there was a certificate issue
Well... it's not a good idea to click on a site you don't know with that warning either way. Basically, the certificate is like a drivers license that says the site's URL matches the domain owner. It prevents someone else from using the same URL and directing you elsewhere. In order to be issued an https certificate, you need to make an entry in your domain's DNS settings to prove you are who you say you are. Those settings can only be controlled by the person who registered the domain in the first place. Think of it like dual MFA for the site to make sure that the https certificate can only be issued to person controlling the domain. Those certificates can be bought in year increments, but have to be renewed every 398 days no matter what the increment you buy them in. So even if you buy the 5 yr cert, they are issued to you in 398 day increments.
Admin is aware and IT dept has been informed.
