Sales Limits

I propose that we raise the sales thread limits for "trusted" VIP members in the general sales area... i.e. only if you have been a member for X amount of time or only if you have X # of feedback or whatever. And I'm not so sure I personally would fit either category, but I'm sure I would get there eventually. How about like 10 a month? No? ok, 7? whatever. :lol: We all know that most of the dealers are selling by the hundreds if not thousands a month and this is in no way an attempt to be a quasi-dealer or snipe any of their sales.
But, I, for one, tend to order way too many watches at once... a la 8 in my last order, then only wind up keeping 2 or 3 for whatever reason... band wasn't comfortable on my wrist. dial looked different in pics...etc,etc,etc.
The RG sales area is the best on the net by far and when we have the 3 post/month limit, it really restricts me and I'm sure others from ordering the watches we want to order in fear of not being able to sell them if we decide we don't want them.
Sometimes I'll order the same watch in every dial choice just to see which to keep, pictures hardly mean anything until I get the thing on my wrist for a few days. So it's nice to be able to order as many as I want to (within a reasonable amount obviously) and be able to sell the rest on here... and usually for a loss anyway! It helps me out, and helps other members by getting great deals on NEW watches... with QC and no customs concerns either...

Just a thought.

yeah, good idea...let's completely unlimit it and let's all become dealers sans any regard for rules and responsibilities.

It's worth talking about. I agree that raising the number would be appropriate - start w/ 6-8 and see how it goes.

Personally, I will usually scout 3-5 watches that I am in the market for and when a VIP that I trust places for sale...I'll pull the trigger. I would rather buy a PAM from Mattuss, Medinblik, etc, than any dealer on the board. Trust is becoming a larger factor now that the watches are routinly hitting the $400+ mark.

Well, if you're mainly buying from Matt and Med, youre a VIP, and you can check the VIP sales section where they will most likely post anyway. This was more for people in the same situation as you, but are not VIP and can't access that area. I've sold a bunch to people who have literally 1 post. They come here and lurk around all the time, and the sales in the general sales section is usually what draws then in to join.

3 a month in general sales are. unlimited in VIP.

Anyone who starts selling a lot in either section, is subject to a good look see.

Seriously, if one is selling more than 5 watches a month...wtf are they up to?

And it's not as if we are handicapping anyone. 90% of the well known people in this forum are VIP already. Take a wild guess how many they can sell.

I could see upping it to 4 or 5 for VIP's in the General section...

I sell a lot of stuff (usually at a sizable loss) just because I have A.D.D. :lol: :lol: and like to see new stuff arriving in the mail... not because I'm a dealer.

Sometimes things really lag in the VIP...

For example, I had a $325 brand new PAM 029 in there for 3 days this past weekend, before lowering it to $219 and having to plead for someone to take it. :confused: :confused: :confused: ????? And the watch was brand new, except for a nick on it the size of a piece of dust which most people wouldn't even mention... In the "General Sales" section, I don't think this would have happened... (And I just wanted to try something else... get some funds in my PP which I immediately spent on another watch...)

And I've seen other members like me, who just like to constantly trade for fun versus profit... TripleD, Bollobandit, MuZi, Mudcat, uffokillerz, M, AllergyDoc, LoganX3, Marco130, joewatch come to mind... people who seem to have the "bug" more than anything else...

So, I think a SLIGHT increase for VIP's isn't a bad idea... 4 or 5 per month, no more. (With RG Staff obviously having the right to intervene if anything looks fishy...)

I haven't sold my first watch yet (traded a couple of times, but not sold), but if I start, it would be for the same reason eloquently stated by RSM, particularly the part about liking to get new things in the mail, especially new (to me) watches.

I agree that when I am in selling mode I want to sell 5-6 at a time.
That by no means makes me a dealer, I might have 5-6 for sale one week and then not sell anything for a year.

Most of us add to the collection than sit back and realize it is time to sell a handful that don't get wrist time or need money to fund another purchase or pay a bill, etc...

Gentlemen. Must I really stress out that you, the Vips are already receiving special treatment?

The regular sale section must be equal to all sellers.

Be content with what you have.
