Can't set time on new PAM and Hello

Hi guys,

I'm a newer member, but I've been lurking around for a while. This is my first post, so let me say what a great place this is. It's truly incredible how friendly and helpful everyone is; people genuinely want to help, which is rare for an internet forum.

Anyhow, I just received a hand-wind PAM from one of our dealers. It's beautiful, and it winds up just fine. But when I pull the crown out to set the time, there doesn't seem to be a position for setting. I've tried pulling it out all the way, but I can't get it to set (there doesn't even seem to be a hack position). One thing I've noticed is that the movement slides a little to the right when I pull on the crown. Has anyone had this experience before?

So I'm not worried about getting it fixed, but before I send it back, I want to be that A) I'm not just being an idiot (which wouldn't be unprecedented :) ) and B) there's not something I can do to fix it myself.

Id send it back because if you do try to fix it yourself and it doesnt work it might be harder to get the dealer to take care of it.

What model do you have? The manual models i have dont have a hack movement either.

Welcome buddy. Glad to hear you enjoy the forum.

Regarding your pam, what model is it? The date on most will adjust when you pull the crown stem out to position 2, if 1 is fully pushed in and 3 is all the way out to adjust the time. If you pull the crown to position 2 and rotate the crown counter clock wise and clock wise a small amount, does the date adjust? If not, spin the time past 12 twice and see if the date wheel is at least working.

Re: the loose movement. That's a 2 second fix and not worth sending it back. If you remove the case back you'll see 2 screws that secure the movement in place. My guess would be one is loose or not in place. Check that, its very easy to repair - tighten it up gently and the movement will be secured. If the movement remains loose you may just need a small piece of wire or rubber gasket to put in the side of the movement to secure it. As funny as this may sound, a uncooked grain of rice will also perfectly do the trick.

finn sorry to hear man. sounds like the keyless works is off. One quick test is to remove the CG and if the crown pulls out all the way its an easy fix but it will require you removing the case back. There is a small screw that needs to be tighetened when the crown is inserted.

let me know if you want to proceed to try to fix it yourself. Where are you located.

Sylar: I'm in the US, PA to be exact.

finn i have the exact problem as you describe. this happened only a couple of weeks ago to my 111h. after i read Sylar's post i took of th crown guard and saw i could pull the crown all out. i am about to open the case and see for loose screws. ill let you know how this went in a minute :) i think you can do it too.

Ok it worked, this only takes less than 2 minutes.

This was loose for 1,5 turns aprox.

Thats i man. tighten that sukcer up with the crown inserted but not too tight just snug and put the caeback back on and you should be set.
