New to the Rep Game
I must first say that I like what I see when it comes to the community you guys have developed here. I am glad to now be a part of it. As in the title, I'm fairly new to the Rep game... outside of the drivel of Canal St, NYC. I've been doing some research around the site in an attempt to orient myself and scout candidates for my first purchase. For those interested, below is my dilemma.
With a budget of ≈$400 I've come to several conclusions (comments, advice, and guidance are very welcome):
1. In the beginning I was fixated on a black Navitimer World. The more research I did, the more red flags and roadblocks appeared. While I still love the watch, the sunken date wheel and poor AR in addition other issues make it a less appealing option. If there's something I'm missing here feel free to chime in.
2. This experience led me to consider the SOSF, as it seems to be in high regard. I'm a little unclear as to whether the swiss model is any better AESTHETICALLY than the asian model. I've observed that there are some who believe that the newest SOSF's are a step backwards in quality. Regardless this, the SOSF Swiss is my frontrunner at the moment. BTW How good is the stock AR?
3. Falling quickly in line, with a lot of folks around here, I have begun to appreciate the Panerai line, especially the 111h. The Panerai world is very confusing. I'd love to find a 111h with solid lume and mid-level features/mods, but I'm having a hard time understanding what to look for.
4. Angus, Andrew, and Josh seem to be some of the best and most reliable sellers, but I am always open to more options.
I know there are a lot of loose ends here, and I don't expect them all answered, but again help is appreciated. I'm glad to be here.
Best,
AROC

Buy whatever catches your eye... You can always sell them and get most if not all your money back. :)
-
welcome,
If you are partial to breitling the SOSF but i personally think the Seawolf and the skyland are nicer watchs and extremely good reps... SEAD (super mirrors) is a very good dealer and will inspect the watch before he ships where as most others dropship.

Hey AROC, welcome
1. Navi world is a pretty nice watch, you can always get new AR for about $150 and frankly I think sunken datewheels are over rated (plenty think this is very important though)
2. Asian ans Swiss SFSOs are aesthetically the same, unless there is a very new batch recently.
3. Dealer SEAD has a very nice out of the box 111, and with the full features model, great value for $$$. You can spend mega bucks on a good Pam if you want...
4. Those dealers are great, if you are Stateside SEAD and WBK have awesome reputations (i have not dealt with either).
Cant remember if PWC ships from the States as well - another good one.
enjoy

Welcome and congrats with finding our community.
Enjoy your stay and take your time to look around because there's a lot of information on here.

Welcome and enjoy the addiction :)

If your in the States, the 111 from Sead is great. I'm sure Astro will chime in on this watch as well.
-
yes! i was just going to say... if you are looking for a great pam with full mods done.. look at sead's $400 111h's ... he's building mine right now...so i should have it in a week with my others.. ;)
also consider the breitling SOH.. the AR on it is really good.. if you must, get Cheif's AR and superlume done later!
btw, welcome!!!
I am suggesting Sead to you, ESPECIALLY since you are new.. you don't want to receive a watch and have to get it send back to china and all that hassle..
sead will do QC and send you pics before.. just keep that in mind :)

Thanks for the help guys. Very informative. Keep it coming.

Welcome AROC! For less then that you can get a Breitling Chronomat Evo, BCE, version 2 or 3 very nice rep endeed;)
-
Welcome Aboard, AROC!!!! I think your post was pretty much spot on - almost exactly where I was when I first started. I have the SOSF but instead of a PAM 111 my first rep was a 177H from Josh. One that seems to have gotten rave reviews lately is the SINN series. Not as well known as the Breitling or the Pam but I wish it was around when I started - I think I would have gotten the SINN U2 instead of the Steelfish.
Again, welcome to the community and enjoy Repgeek. There is a lot of great knowledge here.

welcome! you're going to have a great time here!
-
Some really nice stuff here at that range. You won't be disappointed.

Welcome AROC :D
You'll find a lot of nice watches in your price range here- both from members and dealers. DSN (Davidsen) has an especially nice collection for sale.
If you're NY based, consider coming to one of our GTG events (next one is 14 NOV in Philly). A lot of us carpool as well. They're great for getting to see the products offered by our various dealers up close and personal and a 4 hour conversation about watches is deemed thenorm
