I know I was part of this being instigated, but what do you guys think of the posts to sales sections not counting to your post counts?
For me it doesn't matter but getting up to 250 post for a non VIP would be quite difficult to achieve.

Stay tuned for further announcements from J-C & Sylar :D
"nice watch"
"bump for a good guy"
"+1"
Mostly pretty useless posts, in my opinion. Although you can do the same thing in any thread.
Good idea I think bearing in mind they only need to pay a one off $25 to get that threshold to 100 posts
Personally I think the owners are too easy with the non VIP's that have been here selling for a couple of years.
I think it should be VIP only that can post sales threads
I disagree. I was selling watches here before I was a VIP. At one point I decided I liked this forum enough that 25 dollars from my next sale would be used to upgrade, and I announced that in my sales thread. (I don't know if it helped sell the watch or not).
Either way, I think it's better to allow non-vips to sell as well, because it increases traffic to the site and its one of the features that makes this community so great. I do agree however with the new rule of minimum 250 post count to sell, and I also agree that posts in sales threads should not count.
Any rule change that would prevent members, VIP or regular, (ab)using RG only to sell their reps without properly participating on this forum will be welcomed by many....and hopefully we'll also see that the pricing of the reps for sale is going to be fairer. Too many times I see reps for sale that can be bought brand spanking new for considerably less
I don't know about that Silver. Most of the time the pricing is set at what someone will pay for a particular watch. Lots of new folks will pay more for a watch, even overspend to get on sooner, better, CONUS. etc.
I think the reason for the no post count on the sales thread wat to discourage the few Johnny come lately bad guys that seem to be popping up here.
Although it does not stop a long term member from going to the dark side. I guess there is nothing much that can be done about that.
the onlything is sometimes well meaning members chime in on a sales thread to ask good questions that ask for straight answers on something about the sale or the watch and I have seen sellers being found out as not so honest or needing help in accurately describing their reps. I think those kinds of posts do contribute to the well being and safe haven atmosphere of the forum and therefore should count in the total post count.
Can't have it both ways and in all honesty I am flat out tired of seeing 80 "GLWS" posts from the same member in a 45 minute period.
Interesting. I see a lot of 'VIP' 'Elite' 'Spartan' 'w/e you want to call them' sell watches for the same price as brand new, except they are used.
Sorry i was never one for the elitism of forums. I think RG is a great place and i was able to get some sweet deals and everything, but it shouldn't get to much in people's head :)
Oh and just because someone has a VIP tag doesn't mean they won't screw you big time. It's a nice security feature, but its just that, a nice security feature.
Edit: Before anyone jumps on me, i do support RG direction, it's a good community. If i ever feel the need to sell on RG, then i'll be the first one to get that VIP tag and 100 good posts :)
i agree with you, if the forum is being used as a trading board to offload something you don't want, a one time donation is very little, and quite reasonable to ask.
good point, but most of the people making those comments are long time active members who won't miss the +1 to their post count
not sure where the elitism is being interpreted with VIP membership
it's a 1 time deal that helps support the forum and helps to build a rapport or connection with your fellow collectors.
why wait till you need a sale to become active in the forum, that isn't the point of post count limitations.
start posting/sharing info and pics with your brethren and be part of the community.
participate, i think that's all that is being asked of anyone here.
We will soon get a revised version of the rules, everything will be clear then.
For the time being ,please be patient and understand that all changes implemented are done in the common interest , as a measure to try to protect the members here.
We are working for you guys.
