I knew I had them for a reason! LOL!!! At the very least I make darn sure that they are their own sherpas, now. If they can't carry it, they ain't bringing it.
^Yes, and for pushing your wheelchair when you are decrepit, or at the least keeping the batteries charged :).
I've instituted the same policy re:carry-ons! My children are 5, 7, and 9, and they use their school rolling backpacks as carry-ons. I've taught them to put their essentials into a smaller nylon knapsack which then goes into the backpack, so that if they ever have to stow away their backpacks, they at least have access to their essentials. I am absolutely obsessed with optimal packing, which is at the root of my luggage obsession, and which I've been told is my attempt to maintain control -- I think it's genetic, as we used to mock my father for being meticulous about storing things in small boxes, which were then placed with similar boxes in larger boxes, which were then so effectively stored away that they were never seen again. My children already show signs of similar tendencies...
They also have their own little pillows and blankets for commercial flights, as I have a phobia about those filthy airline blankets, yuck.
So this is probably a silly question. Because the Damier Azur line only has certain pieces... if you need a garment bag and a carryall on the same trip, do you just mix and match styles? It hadn't occurred to me that even with gen bags, LV might not make every "piece" in each style. But I guess as long as you have ALL LV luggage, everyone's happy?
There's nothing wrong with mixing styles, to some people. That's a personal choice. i know for fact with clothes, wearing something logo emblazoned on it with another designer item made by a different company with another logo on it is considered tacky. But people still do it.
I see Ed Hardy clothes mixed with BAPE mixed with Dolce & Gabbana like it ain't nothing. I hate it but the person wearing it likes it.
Being the trailblazer that you undoubtedly are, you said yourself that you "like what you like." So if you like it, rock it. It doesn't matter what we say or think is gauche, does it? :D
I'd advise staying in the same color family or at least sticking to solid colors, if you're using some but not all Damier Azur pieces -- I would NOT mix in other LV lines like monogram and Damier as all the patterns would clash in a cacophony of over-the-top ghetto-fabness. LV Taiga, Nomade and Tobago would work fine as they are solid, if you are hell-bent on keeping it all LV.
There's nothing wrong with using a mix of LV and non-LV -- I would argue that it actually adds a dash of jaunty nonchalance to be less than 100% matchy-matchy, and you won't look like a Russian mobster on a package tour :).
Quizvan - Definately not "hell-bent". Just concered that multiple bags, of completely different color schemes, will look stupid when carried together. So I totally appreciate your reply. ;)
Question is, because the Damier Azur is probably pretty distinctive... is there anyone who makes a garment bag that you'd say "works" with that style? Something that you could carry both and be happy with both bags together? Or perhaps I simply need to look at more brands and find one that has all the pieces I want in the same style. I'm just not finding that in LV, at least not per my current selections. But I'll go back over the other two bags I discussed with Posh (if I can remember which they are), and see if matching garment bags and carryalls are in my future!
Thanks again for ALL the help!!!
Fashion doesn't always equate style and syle is not always synonymous with fashion.
Just buy things that look pleasing to your eye. This is luggage and will get beat up so choosing something light may not always be a good choice. I have seen Damier azur Alzer suitcases and they don't look too bad when they're tossed around. But a light colored carry on bag is acceptable because you can watch how dirty it gets or doesn't get.
Has any1 found anything like the one below, either in this pattern or some other:

Never looked. But contacting Trevor or some of our other dealers would be a good place to start.
Trevor does not have something like that.. Maybe some other dealer you can suggest?
