Or you could upgrade to VIP
you joined today and you already have eight right now. jeez,:undecided: at that rate it will take you a whole 12 and a half days. look around for something that interests you and ask a question, learn something, or give someone your opinion about something that you already know about. or introduce yourself in that section and tell us a little bit about yourself. be courteous and polite, and don't complain about how bad it is in your first few post. it will get better. hang in there and have a little patience. theres alot to be had here and if you stick around you'll see what i mean, it is well worth it :) there's alot of guys here who are willing to help, but you got to play nice. hey, you can even pm me if you want to.
The idea is we want you to contribute to the community here on the forum, not just drop in to snap up the great watches being built. The 100 post limit was one of the best rules introduced in recent years...
see you in five years...
Not a good start....read around and try to understand the spirit that makes RG.
THis is not ebay my friend.
All of us went through it. You are not exempt from the rules.
Either make 100 posts or pay up the VIP fee.
Well then....it would appear you joined for all the wrong reasons then, didn't you?
RG is a community (emphasis on 'Community' ) for those who collect and tinker with watches of all sorts...but particularly reps. It is NOT the rep-version of Tradin' Times or the Thrifty Nickel.
One of the the reasons that 100 msg requirement even exists in the first place is to weed out those who join just to unload some watches and then are never seen or heard from again.
Put a crowbar in your wallet and upgrade to VIP. Otherwise....see you in 'about five years'.
Oh, and by the way..... a 'jib' is a staysail on a masted sailing ship. I presume that, in your rant, you actually wanted to say that we are all a 'Gyp'.
....sT
if your related to obama we could change the rules for you and make it 200 postings =)
+1 Nembo
I think the 100 post rule is fair and definitely makes sense to me.
Damn. Am i coming here for the wrong reason?
Going on 5 years and 3000 posts and i still haven't listed a watch for sale???
I agree with everyone on the 100 posts rule but I think a allowing members to post sales after a designated period of time would also be useful.
I've been around for more than a year and still haven't hit 100 posts. That doesn't necessarily constitute me not contributing anything or pulling a "dump and run" on the sales forum.
Or you could just make 6 more posts....
Actually this is by far not the only forum where that kind of rule applies. Be thankful for the (relatively) cheap option of VIP upgrade. Btw you get much more than the license for trade with that.
Cheers,
Michael
It's a good condition. Every house has its rules...:)
I thought the same, but it took me a few days to get the 100 posts and it forced me to read some threads
in the end, i learned a lot.. and my posts naturally increased.
Some people post smileys ..but q uality posts are also there
Wow, we got 1 person with post of some merit out of that whole 2 pages. Thank you Shirazi. I agree, that would be a much more intelligent way of working the system - a time limit from the date of a members join date until allowing them to trade.*
I did click on the VIP link and it told me 'there are no upgrades available to you' there's your answer to all the idiots who called me 'too tight to pay to be VIP' etc. Nice bit of victimising, give yourself a pat on the back. *
I agree there should be steps in place to stop spammers and scammers. But the forum have these already by way of the fact it is a private forum. Plus a second backup measure of validating*every member.*
There are far easier ways to sell goods, with many, many multiples of the number of potential customers than this forum. To suggest i have joined the forum*to 'dump a load of stuff and never be seen again' is quite moronic.*
If any of you had actually opened your eyes instead of just seeing this thread as a self-beneficial opportunity to bully the new guy with shallow, self satisfying, disparaging*comments. You would have seen I have been a member since July.*
But rather than contributing to the community through public forums which (although do contain a significant percentage of genuine, real people with independent and helpful views) are largely ruined by groups of elitist status-seeking cliquey such as yourselves.
During the past 3 months I have been networking and discussing matters through private messages with friendly, genuine, down-to-earth people. I could have probably got 100 posts by now if I felt the need for public recognition of my chinese watch knowledge or wanted to boast about how many fake watches I have. But because I am secure in myself enough not to need that sort of childish gratification*it doesnt mean I haven't contributed to the community.*
This is the comments and suggestions forum. I was making a comment and suggestion. Not inviting a small-minded mob to state the obvious. And gratify themselves with a bit of dirty bullying.*If this is how everything in this section is dealt with the forum owners should be thoroughly ashamed. *
See, there's one more post...gett'n there!;)
Typical insecure, pompous post with no value to anyone other than yourself.*
And you have the nerve to preach about community.*
I see you have looked Jib up in an online dictionary and jumped to the typical kind of paranoid conclusion of the typical insecure bully - ' you wanted to say we are all a gyp '*
WTF?*
http://thesaurus.com/browse/Jib
A jib where I come from means a draw back or set back. So make sure you have the correct information before you next try and insult someone as you just made a total fool of yourself
This has been the case for as long as I've been a member. You just need to PM a mod for the info.
Maybe not a great start on a forum to start calling all the other members morons, elitist, status-seeking, cliquey, childish and small minded all in the same post. Yes, you will get some snide remarks, but that's true on every forum (even some professional business forums) that I have been a member on since the birth of the internet.
OK guys be nice.
Remember at one time we were all new guys and saw the great, active sales section and realized we had to either pony up for VIP or contribute 100 quality posts in order to sell.
Jimit- please realize these rules are there to ensure that the prospective seller is interested in joining our community and contributing something more substantial than sales postings.
This forum is built around a love of watches, tinkering with watches, analyzing replicas, building frankens, kidding around with each other, breaking each others balls, discussing what new models we hope to see repped, getting together to drink beer, talking about watches, talking about cars, talking about guns, talking about our crazy exes...
The sales forums are just a tiny percentage of what we are about here.
Jimit10, You can look at ALL of my past posts and you will see that I have NEVER made a rude comment to another member. I pride myself on being well behaved online. That said, your posts paint you in almost the opposite light. In your last 2 posts, you have called members morons, elitist, status-seeking, cliquey, childish, small minded, paranoid, insecure, pompus and a fool. Pardon me, but what kind of response do you expect???
If you were to poll 100 members here I doubt that you would find more than a couple who would call the 100 post rule before selling here out of line or unfair. This rule is for everybody's protection. It's really not hard to get to 100 posts anyway, and you can even bypass that by becomming a VIP for a one time fee. Over at RWG you have to pay a MONTHLY fee to post to the sales forum.
100 posts or not,
VIP or not,
The OP is on my do not sell to list.
Make selling available only to people with 500 posts, that should weed out some people the forums don't need. :)
making friends fast i see.****** doesnt matter who you are, or what you have, or where youve been, when a new kid comes to the playground, you cant just come in and start and start bit- ching about how we are playing, and when you do, you should expect the kids to tell you to wait your turn or kick rocks. dont get your feelings hurt and start calling names. when you do people might think you are being immature and childish.
If you're complaint is a request that we eliminate the 100 post rule because you're too busy to post and have better things to do... it's not going to happen. I explained the 100 post rule to you as politely as possible and for that I should be ashamed? It's clear you have no interest in being a part of this community and you must have something to sell. I can't help but see the irony in this.Quote:

Wow, you found the one person who agreed with you in the whole first two pages (ignoring the posts of several of the admin staff). Congratulations.
Everyone's been fairly polite about saying it, but let me lay it out for you: the 100 posts rule is to help prevent the membership from getting burned.
You don't need 100 posts to buy a "nice rep watch," only to sell one. Why? Because, honestly, sending a couple of hundred dollars over the internet to someone you don't know is an act of faith and trust, and you don't build up much faith and trust with an attitude like yours. There have been instances of guys selling watches they don't own, or "selling" the same watch to three or four guys, collecting the payments and then leaving. You have to trust the members you're dealing with.
I buy and sell a lot of watches here. In the ~2 years I've been doing this, I've only been burned once (by PrDubuis, who is banned here but for some reason continues to sell a ton of overpriced crap on RWG). I check the feedback of the guy selling a watch I'm interested, and if he doesn't have any I check his posting history. If that's sketchy, I won't buy. By the same token, I try to take care of the guys I sell watches to. I have accepted returns on occasion. I make sure I describe stuff accurately.
What I'm saying is, the 100 post rule doesn't cost you a thing--without 100 posts you can still buy all the watches you want, and you can't sell any but without some solid history no one is going to buy from you anyway.
100 posts is not that many, and it protects the community from impatient scammers and the like. I rekon its a good rule.
