Default Is it worth buying quartz over Asian Movement????

I would like to buy a few watches but due to a short budget. It is not possible. So I figured I would ask the experts.

    Here is my question.

What am I loosing if I purchase Quartz (Japan/Swiss) watches that mimic Asian/ Swiss movement and has all the visual appeal like Sapphire crystal ect.. instead of a Swiss/Asian movements?

I understand. I have done so but that doesn't help me see all the posts in this forum. I need about 15 or so.

First off, welcome to the forum.

It depends on the watch you are looking at. If you are not wanting a chrono (stopwatch) movement, and want an inexpensive rep, I'd look for a decent quality rep with a 21j automatic movement. They are about as inexpensive as a rep with a quartz movement, and are still automatic. If you are wanting a chrono and need to keep the price way down, then look for a quartz rep with a movement that minics an automatic movement. These movements have a large seconds hand that sweeps instead of ticks, and it resets like an automatic watch does by jumping back to 12 instead of sweeping clockwise back to 12 like a standard quartz movement does. These movements will make the watch operate more like an auto, but there still are big flaws.

First, even on these movements, the small seconds hand will tick like a quartz watch. Secondly, pretty much all quartz chrono movements have the sub dials spaced noticably closer together than either the gen or an automatic rep.

I personally don't buy reps with a quartz movement unless the gen is also available with a quartz movement, like the Tag F1.
