Default Montblanc Meisterstuck 4810 501 stainless steel issue!

    Hi,

Hoping someone would be able to help, I purchased this watch second hand £650 ($800) (as a gen), I did not research on it before buying it and it feels very well made.
I didn't have any doubts regarding its authenticity until I started to polish the stainless steel and to my horror noticed that a yellow/bronze colour was coming through, suggesting the stainless steel colour is just plating.

The movement looks identical to the gen version and the dial too.

Anyone know anything more that can be of help?

    Many thanks!

I don't think this watch is repped and I am almost sure yours is a gen.

As far as the steel fading, it could be due to the quality of the watch it self, hence the low price you paid for a luxury watch. I have always wondered where that brand stands but now that you are showing us that, I think it belongs to the Longines league more than the IWC league

I love montblanc watches and I wish they made more good reps of MB

    Hi,

thank you for your reply, having polished quite a few watches all the way down to Rotary/Seikos I assumed that any watch retailing over about $100 would have solid stainless steel components, let alone a watch retailing for closer to $2000.
just shows that the price tag is in the name, although I have to say the quality/feel/look of the watch does say luxury, its just they are cost cutting at every opportunity I guess!

Can you post another picture of the movement up close with the rotor on the other side of the crown?
    Just curious about something.
