Just thought id say hello
Im fairly new to the whole rep thing, got started about 6wks ago, after always wanting a vintage Rolex 1655 (real ones go for stupid amounts) I managed to stumble across Trusty time (Andrew), and found a nice little replica version.
Since it was my first buy i went for the cheap asian movt version. To my pleasant surprise i got QC pics the same day i ordered and the watch was on my wrist a week later. Ive had gen watches from authorised dealers in the uk take longer than that!
I decided to have a crack at modifying it to look a bit used and abused, it is a 1970 era watch after all. There were 2 vintage 1655s available one with clean white lume and one with an aged looking one, i wanted mine somewhere between the two, so bought the clean version and aged it myself.
Stupidly i forgot to take a decent "before" pic, but heres the result of a few hours tinkering to give it that nice aged look. Its not a perfect job but for a first attempt im quite pleased.
Just ordered my second rep from Trusty, a Breitling superocean 42. No plans to modify that one but i am looking forward to trying my hand at my first review when it arrives.
+ Just out of curiosity im considering picking up a rep of a Sinn U1, since i own a gen it would be nice to do a side by side comparison.
