Hello all. I am new to this website and do not as yet have a rep watch but want to get one. Here is my problem. I have e-mailed all the so-called good dealers that have been posted here as well as another site and have had only 1 (Joshua) ever return an e-mail. Another issue I have is that I'm reluctant to pay for something without seeing it. My quesion today is, what does someone do if they get a rep watch that needs a link or 2 removed to fit and cannot do it themselves? I'm pretty sure you just cannot take it to a jeweler unless you're friends with him can you?

    Welcom Vealchop

Good to see you found this amazing forum, there is tons off reading for you to do. May I suggest the various "Sticky's" and by that I don't mean the green stuff that you can smoke.

Welcome to the board! Here are a couple of answers for you.

Most of the dealers will gladly answer your emails if you are asking about watches they are selling. They aren't help desks, though.

If you want to buy a rep without seeing and holding it, you are out of luck unless you live near one of the dealers. You have to trust that you will get what's pictured in their post or on their website. That's why you should only use the dealers mentioned here. They have been tested.

I used to have a local watchsmith do my easy repairs until I learned to do them myself. DON'T GO TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WITH YOUR REP. This won't be the last time you hear this. Find a small mom and pop watchsmith (they are around), and see if they will work on "fakes".

Use the search button, it is your lifeline here.

    Welcome Veal!

If you are intending on buying a rep that has been reviewed by a member here, then you can rely on that information regarding the quality of the rep that you are wanting to buy.

Removing links on Rolex reps is easy, and you can do that yourself with a small screwdriver. Removing links/sizing bracelets is often mentioned in watch reviews.

As for the Rolex link issue, even I can do it with a small $3.95 screwdriver set (you actually only need one) and I am a bumbling noob. So it should be no problem for you.

It's sort of a remove two screws, remove link, then put ends together with one screw. If you need more off, go to the other side to balance it off. Not that I think it matters much, but I start on the 6 oclock side of the band, then I'll take a top one off if I need more. There are other ways to "fine tune" it in the clasp, but we'll get to that if and when you need it; MOST DON'T

Hello Vealchop, welcome to the forum.
It might be worth checking your spam or junk mail filters and mail back from the dealers can sometimes be held up there.

If you have concerns then go for a cheap rep from a trusted dealer for you first buy and never ever spend more than you can afford to loose, these watches are illegal imports and can and do get confiscated. Risks are low though.
