    Default Zooming in.

    Hey there.

I've lurked here a bit and feel I should introduce myself.

I am a little experienced as an amateur watchmaker and I enjoy restoring inexpensive vintage gens such as Elgins, Gruens, Enicars and some Hamiltons.

I started out by fixing a few and destroying a few. I found that many old watches just needed a superficial cleaning and some oiling to be restored to working order.

My interest in reps is in ageing and making them look vintage.

This site seems to be a great info source!

Welcome Zooom, check out the vintage section for a lot of projects people have undertaken.

    Thank you!

I've read through some of the threads and there is a treasure of information there.

On some of the vintage watches I have found, the patina and age is remarkable. I am trying to replicate that.

Currently I have a case buried in the backyard and I have a case in rocksalt. I want tarnish and age, then I want to polish that tarnish so that it looks like the piece was found and then cherished.

Sort of like the way my gens are treated.
