NEWBIE Here w/Questions!

I'm new to the world of reps. I'm looking for a Submariner and I have no idea where to start looking for one. Just like everyone else I want the closet to 1:1 as I can get for the money. I'm looking to spend no more than $150 if possible. I would love to find one in the US to buy off of someone. I have read the threads for Noobs and I'm still at a stand still. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know anything about Timeshop.

I suggest you buy from only respected dealers on RG to avoid being scammed and disappointed with your purchase.

Thanks but there is one problem with those. I wanted to find some that were already in the US and wouldnt take 25 days to get here!

Narikaa sent me a watch within 7 days, and Im in the US. Im new here also, but patience is required for this hobby. Welcome and good luck, a little patience and you will be satisfied.

Dont rush to get something outside of the trusted dealers here, because you will either get a sh**ty watch, or get burned for your money, or a 25 day delay, or all of the above.

WackoBirdKeeper will have the watch to you before you can finalize your payment to him (OK, not THAT fast, but he IS damn quick).

He also hand-pickes the watches so you don't have to worry about major flaws like you may see with the drop-shippers.

Seriously, though, is there any reason you can't wait 7-10 days for your watch? As a fellow noob, I can certainly sympathize as I'm not very good at waiting either (compulsive tracking checker) but you're going to have a bigger selection if you're willing to order from the foreign dealers. If time is a big concern, you can PM torobravo and see if he has something that interests you, as he ships Fedex from CN and it only takes 2-3 days. Good luck! If you take your time making the right purchase, you'll be a lot happier with it in the long run.

I haven't bought off WBK yet (still waiting for my first locally-sourced rep to arrive before buying overseas - it's a gradual confidence thing!) but they seem very friendly, professional and prompt with communication.

I was anxious about buying from overseas too, but a couple of things really allayed my concerns.

The first being that it is widely accepted as reliable and safe by everyone on this forum and others, provided you use reputable dealers. At first I was suspicious that even RG was an elaborate scheme cooked by Chinese scam artists, with a bunch of fake posts about how great the dealers were, and that all the posts reporting being scammed by TDs were immediately deleted. Then, I put down the crack pipe and tin foil hat and realized that was preposterous.

The second thing that made me more comfortable was learning that many if not most of the dealers on here will replace a watch lost to customs, and will do whatever they have to to make a purchase right if there's something wrong with the product or anything else. At first I was suspicious of this too, but I realized that at the amount of money these guys are making, which for most of them is probably not insignificant, they can afford to take a hit here or there if it means maintaining a loyal and trusting customer base.

So, a week ago I was still afraid I was getting scammed out of all my money. Today I'm wearing my new 005k, and in the mail tomorrow morning I'm getting a 177m, a 288k, and a Chanel J12 for the missus.
