Oh, you definitely should! I picked it up new for 13 bucks shipped.Just for the pictures alone. While the book isn't as detailed as other. It fits his style in that it's an easy conversation about his processes and thoughts about his way of designing. It's like sitting in a friend's put together house and getting tips and allowing his chat about his space give you ideas about your own. That's what it did for me. It just gave me great ideas and said it is okay to not have a perfect house.

He really pushes for patina, age and history in homes and furniture pieces. So if your house has a story, you let it come through and don't try to mask it. If you have inherited antiques and all the stuff you have is modern, he's real clear that both can coexist if the backdrop is more on the neutral side. Let the form of the furniture, art and architecture of the house be the decoration. There is no place for busy prints and chintz with the Carter aesthetic. LOL

Occasionally paying retail is fine. sometimes you have to. Just don't make it habit.
