How NOT send watches to other country...
Hi geeks!!
Latelly I am not lucky on the forum sales...
First an AP Bumblebee from Thom.Holmes that never comes...just a 60£ scam
Now afther a waiting the seems never ends, I rescued from customs another parcel from USA. (Afther 40€ payment, but I know it could happen, I pay and assume this)
When I touch the packet I note a metalic sound that sounds really bad...I try not to move the box and open it first to move home, I opened in customs door as soon as I have the box.
That is what I found...just a piece of plastic between two heavy watches...pam 243 and pam 372, nothin more...nothing else.
I will post photos at the end.
As result of this bad bad baaaaad way to ship two watches from USA to Europe (a great trip I think...) the MINT 372 comes really damaged.
As it cracks without protection on travel, the dial pins are broken, dial moved, dirty and need rework for placing and clean it.
Crystal and case are damaged too, some hairlines and a crack in the crystal. Case need to polish.
I am a watchsmith here in Spain and I spend lot of time to let the watch best I can, not perfect (crystal have a deeeeper spot that cant be polished out) but close.
The 243 where a not in working use pam, and yes, this isnt working as I know, but now add to this that have a cosmetical damages.
I dont want to bother seller with this post. I vote (and I am really bad with this) negative on his feedback score and that is all. He just say to me: Sorry, lection learned.
(That is not the best answer from a seller...I know... but that was all)
I do not want silly polemics about guilt. It was just a big error in the shipping.
I hope this post and photos will help anyone who is going to make a transoceanic shipment, to make a god bubblewrap envelople for each watch, not to put the watches alone with a plastic loose, unwrapped.
That is what happen if you dont pack watches propertly.
The box...and plastic loose between the two watches.

372 Damages on crystal. Dial dirty and dial pins broke so dial move.

The only one plastic inside the box.

The other damages...back movement have holder clamps screws missing along the movement. 2 screws are broken and parts are loose inside movement, but screw part is still screwed inside. Just one screw are complete and in his place.

Yeah...really bad.
Afther some hours of work on watch...this is how it looks now.
Serviced, founded all screws parts inside movement, polished case, dial rebuilt, dial clean too, new screws...lot of work for a mint watch isnt it??
Now looks this way.

My english isnt the best I know. Please understand.
I only want everybody read this learn how not to ship watches.
PLEASE USE BUBBLEWRAP FOR EVERY WATCH SEPARATELY AND BE GENEROUS.
Sorry if the seller feels bad. I am able to fix this, but everybody cant fix this without spend lots of money. If was another person...will claim for a refound.
Be carefull when ships!!
Just receibed this FROM TOROBRAVOS.
THAT IS THE WAY MY FRIEND!!!!

Thanks geeks.

Bubble wrap is dirt cheap. I just sent a watch to the US in around 0.6 meters of bubble wrap which cost less than a dollar per meter (the only reason it's 0.6 meters is because that's what could fit into the EMS shipping box).
And even then the watch had a rubber protector on it.

Really really terrible really.
Sellers asume is a fail. But I eat watches. As I told, dont looking for a open war here. Just a reminding for everyone that a bubblewrap save lives. And lot of money.

Great job fixing the watch! Seller should be held responsible for doing such a poor packing job.

Agreed, I have just sent the seller a PM he needs to make this right.
You either pack it properly or (partially) refund IMHO no excuses

I got an eur 350,00 hublot in an enveloppe once, seller thought it was a good idea cause it saved him money not sending it as a package. Very thin bubble stuff in the enveloppe and that was it.
No t&t nothing either, could not believe he decided to do that and for sure I thought I was being scammed.
I paid for sending with t&t and bombproof packing.
After a couple of days the enveloppe was thrown into my mailbox and the watch arrived, by miracle save and sound.
I had so much luck that time.

you pack like this when you know your are sending sh*t and just want to put the responsability on transport...i just don't see other reason to pack that crap...

I pack with the assumption that it will get kicked from one side of the sorting room to the other by a couple of brain-dead morons.
Can't protect the watches from everything but you can try.

that might just be the real motive cause really, can all the damages reported on this thread truly have been caused by shipping only?

I dont want think the worst...
Now the sellers asume part of the damage in post transit.
I will charge 100$ for this service so I assume half and sellers pay me back 50$ to finish this situation.
Thanks all for your words AND SPECIALLY TO WIMPIE FOR HIM WORK.
I want to close this. THANKS!

As I understand the seller has now refunded Djmora 50usd to help compensate his work and both consider the matter closed.
So will I. So thread is now closed.
Let this be a lesson for all, the little money that can be saved by skimping on packaging materials/shipping method can become a costly matter
Pack watches the way you would want to receive your own parcels
