^Bought my Taiga trolley from JoJo at http://ebrandedbag.com/product.asp?c...ssname=Luggage
    SHe is honest and reliable.
Her pics are of the same bag with the inaccurate grip and straps. Shipping adds another $65 or so to her price -- the trolley weighs about 10 pounds. I notice that her price has unsurprisingly risen since I bought mine a few years ago, but is still very reasonable. I bought the ancillary Taiga pieces from her as well as from SHaly at superalv.com.

this is the only all-wood steamer on the bay, and according to the label on the inside, im fairly certain it should look like that, the monogram ones sell for 5-10K!
If I bought this, I would do a major rehaul with panels and leather, hardware, etc... is that a big no-no?
i wouldnt use this travel... thats a bit much, but could definitely use it around the house.

A lot of antique Louis Vuitton trunks and suitcases are repurposed as coffee table, accent tables and art pieces. I think that trunk would make an excellent piece for your decor. That being said, I am not so certain this trunk is an actual Vuitton. No one would let a Louis Vuitton trunk go for so little, even if it was battered as that one is. You mentioned this yourself; antique Vuitton trunks routinely sell for five figures. You must remember that even during the actual Louis Vuitton's lifetime his trunks were being copied and counterfeited. That trunk may very well be one of those. It's best to buy it because you like it and then have it looked at professionally to find out if it is indeed a genuine Vuitton trunk.

The good thing about Louis Vuitton steamer trunks like this is that they fit into ANY interior setting from mid-century modern, Hollywood Regency, traditional or eclectic. The majority of trunks custom made by Vuitton today are NOT used for travel. Most are used as coffee tables and decorative storage around a house. Take a look:
