I think there are about 85 people in North America who can pull off a slim fit. Everyone else is obese, or "skinny-fat" (heard "skinny-fat" on the radio a month or so ago and have been obsessed with it since. We are ALL gonna die over here... ya'll best build some boats.)

I like Bugatchi Uomo, but I never go better than pushing the limits of business casual (right off the field into the ditch). Usually, when I find one which isn't too loud they'll also have some kind of floral pattern embroidered/stitched/printed onto them, which I am down with. The flowers balance out all the h8n I am radi8n.

We call it self distance in Sweden. It's a good thing (Just would be nice if more Swede's had it )

On topic: Ralph Lauren have nice Slim fit shirts and the "cheaper" lines are (compared to the rest of the world) damn cheap in USA.
I never recommend anyone to shop for shirts online though. (Hard to find a nice fit). And of course Turnbull & Asser's nice but I mean it's like recommending Kiton or Brioni for suits when asked about budget alternative.

In Sweden we have Eton and Stenströms that are premium shirts and defo nice! But more like 150 USD /piece

Ended up going with a couple turnbull and asser shirts. Fit is very nice. Good pattern matching. But really wrinkles fast after normal dry cleaning.

I wash my Turnbull and Assner shirts in warm water in the washing machine and iron them by hand versus having them dry cleaned - they do not wrinkle as fast.

I think those with humility or "distance," either are part of the 85, know they are chubby, or in skinny-fat denial! So yeah, we take it well. I think I'll go clean my guns now.

I kid of course. I actually think we are getting a little better....slooowly.

edit to stay on topic: Oh yeah, we have style! We have to buy new clothes often as they are always getting too big or (cough) too small. Well that, and no one likes gravy stains on shirts.

You can go the cheaper custom route which modern tailor or itailor. itailor is definitely hit or miss as they will argue about shirts that are sent cut wrong.

Express shirts quality is terrible. Bought them back in college. Never again.
Too many reps... This is more costly than a drug addiction.

The quality has been getting better over the last couple years, however anything that is in their stretch cotton usually doesn't last more than about 6 months. I have a closet full of express shirts because they are super cheap, and I don't feel bad about wearing them in many of the environments I work in (dusty server rooms etc), however I wouldn't ever call them high end dress shirts. More I wan't to look good and don't have much to spend. Their suits, pants, and jeans on the other hand are all of pretty good quality and I have no issue recommending them (in fact when it comes to jeans I am usually wearing guess or express).

    My current favorites are

    English Laundry
    Armani Exchange
    Boss
    Lennon McCartney
    Brooks Brothers

If you know your size and find them on , I would look for "circle of gentlemen" shirts. The best I have by far

Boss shirts that don't need a whole lot of tailoring fits me well, especially the slim fit.

    Default Men's Dress Shirt recommendations

We get custom tailored shirts in good quality for less then 100€ over here in Germany. No such business in the US? Those shirts, by nature, fit best... even on 'not so skinny fat' people (some upcharge for extra fabric may apply).

    Default Men's Dress Shirt recommendations

In the price range, TM Lewin are very good. Brooks brothers are good as well, but the material never spoke to me. On occasions, I have found nice things in banana republic and Calvin Klein, but there is some hunting that needs to be done. Pink is another brand that has good material.

When you go higher end, Brioni is a name that comes to mind, but I have often found the material to be less impressive than others in their range. Zegna, loro piana, giorgio armani (only giorgio btw - I find the material that emporio or ax use to be not as soft) and Gucci (look for the ones with no branding visible) make shirts with great material in my experience. Consistent favourite is Zegna.
