Would never spend $3k on Jeans. Some ppl think I'm crazy for buying a pair of True Religion or Rock & Replics. Most that I ever spent on a pair of Jeans was a little over $400 for a pair of Robins Jeans...but I had to have those

However, if you want to splurge a little, sugar cane, flat heat, rjb are some excellent choices (Much better choices out there than those hideous ed hardys and can be purchased at selfedge.com).

also, a little tip regarding raw denim. don't wash them until you have worn them for at least 6 months.
and unsanforized raw/dry denim should be presoaked (some prefer salt water) and air-dried.
sanforized denim has already been presoaked.

APC New Standards at 6 months and 1 wash

those creases you see behind the knees are called "whiskering" and can be enhanced by wearing your raw denim jeans for as long as possible before washing

    To revive an old thread
This is a good intro to raw denim (although there are some flaws in here as well)

When buying denim, one should consider the following:

    source of the denim
    weight
    twill direction
    cut

    at a bare minimum

Brand name (like most other clothes out there) =/= quality.

I agree. But probably no more ridiculous than paying $75,000 for a gen croc Birkin. :-)

Sheesh, those crocs and gator all slime around in the same swamps. How do you pick out the 70K gator from the 10K gator. LOL

Roger that Green! Shoot, I'll hire someone to wrestle a gator, skin it, the whole shabang for a grand lol..I could get a bag, pair of shoes, a belt, possibly have some left over to make a bracelet..LOL the possibilities are endless! My parents go back to Vietnam every year, I have so many friends that go as well.. you can get anything duplicated /copied for less than 50 bucks in US dinero. In all seriousness, I'm surprised there aren't any reps coming out of Viet to be honest..Lord knows, my "peeps" are the Master of knock offs/boot legging.. unlike China there are real laws/regulations so long as you give the officials a little "taste" its all gravy.

Even if I had 75g's to burn, no way I'd spend that on a BAG.

Never been to Vietnam, but during my visits to Thailand, Phillipines, and Honk Kong, I have had all sorts of "designer" clothes and suits made. Just bring in the picture out of GQ or other fashion magazine and 3 - 4 days later it's ready for pickup.

Yep Green.. Next trip over seas will be to Thailand and of course Vietnam.. This is just my own 2 cents but with China, its hit or miss, more times than not, Miss. Ive heard better rolex reps come out of Thailand, not sure if thats a myth..but a good friend of mine who's also thai, goes back several times a year, told me so.. Ive been trying to work up the nerve to ask her to get me some stellar reps..not sure if Im comfortable with that yet.. Id love to make the trip one day, possibly even start selling high quality gen like rep bags myself..

I'm really into my jeans as well, having a number of levis, evisu, and other random indie design ones

I only buy navy blue and prefer raw denim. Washing them is a pain, because all my other clothes I just take to the laundry shop, but the jeans I hand wash. Currently my fave are a pair of commuter Levi's because of the fit, and the secret inner pocket in the jeans
