Default Giant n00b, I'll admit it

Hey everyone! I'm interested to meet you guys and become a part of the fun conversation. I've always had an interest in watches ever since I was a child, but nothing too crazy. Just enjoyed looking at them. Only now am I wanting to start collecting and learning more about watches. I've all of a sudden become somewhat obsessed with them, the way they work, and the way they look. I think it's good for me to start out with a replica as I am, like I said, a n00b. And once I learn more and have more of an appreciation, I can eventually save up and purchase the real thing one day. This forum kind of overwhelms me, is there any way I could get some help with some things? I've read a tiny bit and I guess I was a bit naive, but I didn't realize what a popular watch the Submariner is. I've loved it the second I saw it. It just looks like a watch that can go with anything, and it's just beautiful to me. I didn't realize it was so loved and iconic, but I can see why it is. One part that confuses me is the dealers section in here. I'm obviously looking for my first watch to be some type of Submariner rep. I'm not looking for top of the line looking stuff, it is my first rep, after all. I'm okay with it not being the best rep out there. I don't want it to look embarrassingly bad obviously, but if the second hand isn't swooping, etc, I'm not going to be upset about it, I believe it's expected for things to not look perfect on a replica. Another thing is that I have very small wrists, and the styles of watches today for men are GIGANTIC! I'm personally not a fan of huge watches, as I think thy look gaudy. But again, that's a personal opinion. I see sizes for things like 40mm or 44mm etc. Is that the dial size? I'm a confused n00b and would appreciate any and all help. Sorry to be the next sub guy haha.

Welcome to the forum! 40mm-44mm is most likely the case size measured across the case(may or not include crown) If you have smaller wrists the lug to lug size may be more important. Some watches of similar dimensions "wear" better than others. There may be a thread on members with smaller wrists and the watches they wear. Remember "search" is your friend. Good luck!
