Default Paying with Paypal as a gift

A trusted dealer asked me to select "gift"when paying with Paypal. Doing that releases me of any Paypal buyer protection. What could I say to the seller?

I have never heard of any of our trusted dealers asking for this...Personally I would pass and buy elsewhere.

There have been an alarming number of instances where new members filed a PayPal dispute without being authorized by staff, messing things up not only for the trusted dealer but also the other members who paid through PayPal as well, and in some cases, getting that account shut down permanently. You do realize how much of a hassle and financial impact that is because to a dealer. Paying PayPal gift is no different from using cash payment methods like Western Union, Moneygram and Bitcoin. TDs may or may not change F&F to P&S for longtime members and customers. This is their prerogative. But let me remind everyone, this is a Trusted Dealer we are talking about, not some two-bit seller peddling his wares.

It is completely your decision whether or not this payment method will determine who you purchase from, but let's not confuse new members as to whether it is unusual/strange/suspicious. They are protecting themselves as well as their customers. I would be more suspicious of a new member wanting to have the ability to file a dispute than a trusted dealer asking for F&F PayPal payment.

@gbakkermarinus , like I mentioned, you are totally free to choose your dealer. Be reminded that PayPal is not offered to new members due to the reasons I mentioned above. This is their way of protecting themselves and you as well, in case another new member thinks he's "within his rights" to file a PayPal complaint whenever he wants to. You want to use PayPal, then use F&F. You're not comfortable with it, then feel free to choose another payment method, or if that is not possible, move on and try to find another TD that will accept PP from a newbie. AFAIK there are only a select few. Good luck.

So I'm pretty sure it's the same if you pay by WU, no comeback.

Most TD's won't accept PP at all so if that's what he asks then it's your call.

Have you done your homework and read all the new member threads, if so you should be capable of making an educated decision.
