Post Labelling Sales threads with the base region of seller and region willing to ship to ?

OK so I am too new to sell here I know- so please do not shout at me all you experienced forum members!!! LOL

As an eager new member looking to learn and to buy(!) it strikes me that it would be great for prospective buyers (of all levels of experience) to know, before entering a sales thread, which region the seller is in? and also which region the seller will NOT ship to?

"Come on own up, how many times have you spotted a thread, dived in, read through a great description and more often a lengthy and classy set of pics. You are 'drooling' already, you can see that baby on your wrist (even thinking of a story to explain yet another purchase to 'senior management' in the room next doors!), to find at the bottom of the thread (just when your credit card and/or PAyPAl address is burning your hand) .................. 'ships to CONUS only'...and you is in Australia ! (not picking on anybody or region here).

Moving on to the second element.......

I notice some sellers now place the base region in their thread title, for example (EU). This is IMO brilliant, 'cos if you are anxious about our friends in the 'Revenue' (and who isn't?), you may prefer to buy from your local 'free trade' market only?

Perhaps these two attributes might be added as standard options in the sales thread title? e.g. FS: Omega SMP (EU) (ALL), or FS: Rolex GMTIIc (CONUS) (CONUS) etc

Just a thought - cos the sonner we all find them, the sooner we can trade them!!!! Have a great day - I am off to read the Rep Trade Area! :-)

It's been brought up before, many many times. It would require too much administrative overhead to enforce.

Wouldn't it be simpler to request a "Ships to:" field to be added into the posting template so that it's stated clearly where they're willing to ship. At least it would end up in a consistent location for every sales thread.

I'll ship anywhere so I never really paid attention to it before but it's a valid concern and a good idea, especially with PSOC's suggestion.

I think you're limiting yourself fundamentally. Anyone that's selling say from the states to you in the UK will state buyer accepts all liability for customs risks... and you agree by PMing the seller to buy the item. Some sellers state conus only or Eu only... but have you tried PMing them saying hey, I'm willing to accept the customs risk, I really want your item... I'll paypal you right now...?? I have yet to find someone that wasn't willing to sell to me even though they said they wouldn't because of my location. Try that and you'll find there's no need...

Hi Kbiz - your post just popped up in the header as I was trawling around. Its more than a fair point and I accept it. In fact I have done that myself since joining. Counter point is that even with the 'limit' in the sale thread header, you can still PM and ask? As my mother used to say, "if you do not ask in life, you do not get....now less questions and drink your milk"!!! Only joking, god bless her.

I know as a buyer, that to know the location of a sale, before opening the thread is a real benefit. Buyers are so hot and fast on here, you can literally lose a chance to buy cos you are one PM too late in the Rep Trade area.

Seriously, personally I am looking for Euro sales threads only just now, cos the customs guys here have cost me a BK Rollie, or a Sead Ultimate PAM in the past year alone. Anyhow great to make contact with you ......the best ideas are always those that are shared with others :-)

Like others have said even if the seller is listing "conus only", etc. things can be negotiated via PM. So I'm not sure that matters too much.

The sales threads already have a field for "where are you located" (before the pretty pictures, before the nice descriptions)

So you want to move that field to the title so you don't need to open the thread? I'm not sure what kind of positive or negative effect this would have though.

This is why I name my sales threads with:

    FS - PAM111 [ConUS only]

    or

    FS - PAM111 [Worldwide]

If only every member followed my example, repgeek could be renamed Panerairepgeek.com, and all would be well in the world today.

well I ignore those CONUS only, or EU only in the sales title. If the title is interesting I will check it out regardless of where you THINK you will be shipping to

I've started a while ago saying CONUS only and that ended when I had to sell outside of CONUS since the buyers here weren't interested.
