Default New member - question about legality

    Hi,

New member here. I've read some of the threads for new members, which contain useful info, thanks. One thing I haven't seen much about is the legal situation of ordering some of these watches.

Probably a silly question, but is it illegal to order rep watches for personal use? Can customs opening the package get you in trouble? What are we talking about, confiscation, a fine, a criminal record?? I take on board the tip about having it delivered as registered mail rather than using Fedex etc, but am just paranoid.

I live in Switzerland, which can be pretty strict re customs, and I don't think they'd take a kind view on this given the importance of local watchmaking industry. Am I on dicey territory ordering a rep watch to be delivered here? Anyone with any experience of doing so?

    Thanks in advance,

If you live in Switzerland you will have a problem if you buy outside of the EU.
This is common for most European countries,so.....order only from our EU dealers or trade with EU members to avoid the risk.
    Pretty simple really.

You will be lucky to receive anything that comes from outside the EU they are red hot and seize and destroy reps all the time.

As for getting in trouble I don't know it is possible though if your name keeps popping up I would think.

Before you buy anything you need to get a member or someone who will take delivery for you and forward preferable in the Uk. Or deal only with dealers in the EU like Narikea
If you are not buying from us you are paying too much!!! Like for like we are the cheapest on the net

Thanks for the info, it is useful. I could get stuff delivered to a UK address, though not sure if the dealer will accept a Swiss credit card but UK delivery address. I will ask. Thx again.

So on the legal front, it doesn't sound as if a personal buyer has ever got in too much trouble?

Switzerland is not part of the EU but part of Schengen, isn't it?
If I am not mistaken, goods are subject to customs when entering Switzerlandfrom the EU, so are our nice rep watches.
Considering that almost 100% of luxury watches are "Swiss made", I expected Swiss customs to be very strict on rep watches.

Narikaa, Torobravo and Sead (I think) are all based in EU or can ship from the EU, so these would be your go to guys at the moment.

I've got stuff from both Sead and Narika and the transaction was flawless. But going into swiss land, home of the grail and mecca? I think that might be dicey.
Smoke em if you got em.

+1 ,Swiss, is the most difficult country to get reps in, they are not in the Europa Union, and will have serious customs control .But i'm sure there are ways, because i bought some parts from a swiss member

    BTW , welcome here

    Hello and welcome,

I think (but I'm noob) that Andrew and Josh can send also because they have an option of transhipping through UK, check they're websites.

    Good luck!!!

Don't know about rest of the Europe but in Sweden it's not illegal to import single replicas. It's first when you try do do it in a larger scale it becomes illegal.

a fellow Swede once sent me a link from our customs stating the fact above, but now I can't seem to find it.

I haven't had any problems with the import for my watches.

Theese include: Trusty, BK (twice) and from a member in cincy USA, and from member within Sweden.

    Kind reg

    Tomas

Switzerland is not part of the EU.
Customs controls EU-CH and CH-EU are very strict.
Your best bet is to find someone that lives in Germany or France or ..., close to the border and can receive the watch for you, then drive over and re-ship from within CH to you.
Sounds complicated but works fine with cigars from CH to the EU.
