Default A Political Sub-Forum in Off Topic Area

I think it would be a great idea to have a Politics sub-forum in the Off Topic area or a new Political Discussion area all of its own perhaps....

It would save an enormous amount of time for those of us who are tired of coming across political rant threads that don't neccessarily indicate that the thread is politcal by it's title... I go to the Off Topic for off topic discussion but recently it's just been chocabloc with politics and anger!

Those that want to talk politics are fine by me and should still have the freedom to do so, however, it's just not my thing, there's so much of it blasted at us in the media everyday already. Having a sub forum dedicated to Politics would keep it all in one place, keeping everyone happy I would hope... you'd know what you were getting into.

What do you think? Good idea?... Maybe I should just keep

Great idea. This subforum's topics would ideally not show up in the ticket either.

I thought this stuff was in the Off Topic subforum.

Anyway, in some ways, I think it's a good idea but in others, I think why stop at political? What about a politics and religion subforum with sports. And movies. And guns. And we could call it off-topic. Oh, wait.

    +1 for off topic

I like being able to rant about political crap and post pix of my guns in the same thread

There are plenty of polical forums out there if you want to join one . Naming a sub-fora 'Politics' would encourage more political posting here. IMHO off-topic is more than sufficient.

Why not go on over to the young republicans site and ask if they will host a sub-fora called "Watches" ... or better yet, "Rep Watches" . I am sure you will get a warm reception .

It's odd- the other forums i use- WUS, and one for bass player- talkbass.com- specifically ban talking politics and religion. I don't think I understood why til I came here.

Exactly... the other forums I use are the same. Phew!

..... I knew I would get the responses I did from our 'political' members, all power to them, I'll just keep it

I think it's a great idea for off topic. There are many of us here who like to indulge in political discussions time to time.

As long as we can keep it smart and the riff raff out, it'd be fun.

One of the reasons I spend as much time as I do here is because we can discuss and debate issues that are closed on RWG.

    Yes, we can.
