Hi Folks,

After lurking for almost a year I should take a moment to introduce myself.

I got my first rep from a dude wandering around with a briefcase at Battery Park, NYC in the early 90s. It was a rolie GMT-Master (?) with a quartz movement (I didn't know the difference or care) which I think I paid around $40 USD for at the time. It was a fun watch and I wore the ever-loving snot out of it over several years- the threads on the crown stripped because the whole case is made of brass and the steel plating has mostly worn off. Some of my classmates on that trip picked up Gucci reps which all fell apart within a few weeks - despite being a really bad rep I think I did pretty well for the sole purpose of having a snazzy looking watch to wear. I have always had the notion in the back of my mind that I would eventually buy a gen Rolex or Omega (I hadn't yet seen or heard of Panerai or the many others).

Welcome to adulthood- a place where nothing is like you imagined it would be when you were a kid without student loans and mortgages and all that fun stuff; stuff which ultimately can change your aspirations, politics, opinions and goals.

No longer was I prepared to wait indefinitely until the right time/circumstances to buy the right gen presented itself. There are simply too many watches out there to be quite so choosy so I started looking around. Heck... I needed to know the TIME, and I wanted to know it in style. You can all identify with what came next

I spent a fair amount of time scraping through various forums compiling a baseline of knowledge to get started with, and eventually I arrived at RepGeek, and I like it here a lot.

In closing I would like to thank those responsible for RepGeek's existence and I hope that in time I can contribute back to the community. I don't have much to say about a lot yet, but one of these days...

Thanks Geeks, and Hello!
