Hi Ed,

Welcome to RG, it looks like you’re already on your way to a great collection. Enjoy your time here, there’s plenty of people willing to help out if you have any questions.

Regards the tells on the Daytona, I’ll just point out the main ones that are immediately apparent for now: The Rolex Crown @ 12 is the wrong shape, the sub dial spacing is incorrect but this is due to the movement used. The number 4’s on the Sub dials should have a flat top instead of pointed. It is known as a ‘flat four’, you will see it referred to regarding some Rolex Sub bezels too. The T Swiss T under the sub dial @6 is wrong for this model too. I’ll stop at that or it’ll end up being a full review. I’m sure there’s a full review in the Rolex section somewhere. However, please don’t feel that you have a bad watch, it’s not a bad watch at all, I love them, it’s just is very difficult to make a good vintage Daytona rep. Getting one that is highly accurate puts you into the areas of spending well over $1000 and more.

I had a vintage Daytona for a few years and nobody ever questioned me about it. Vintage watches in general are much more under the radar. So, don’t worry, you bought the watch because you obviously like it, as I did mine. Wear it well and enjoy!

Don’t forget to post up photos of your new acquisitions too, we never grow tired of seeing what others have to share.
