Thank you RG Bot for the warm welcome, that is a very nice touch!...
I have personally not experienced such a warm welcome as this in any other community in my off/on 20+ years of hunting, negotiating, collecting, re-selling etc...OEM, as well as many top quality (yet quite inexpensive) PAM, ROLEX, Franck M, Sinn, Heuer, then Tag/Heuer, and Omega mainly.
I have always been fascinated by watches and other gadgets and seem to always be drawn into another somehow.
My main watches for different reasons today would be Panerai (bought my first one in Maui when I got engaged we saw it in jewelry store by the hotel and I had my friend ship it to me at the hotel. Man that thing was awesome, but WAY to big for my little wrist, but I wore it anyway and once back in LA, I was shocked when I learned how popular they were and that people could get them & were frustrated at the low inventory at the new Beverly Hills Boutique that I was looking for my 2nd and smaller piece. On the way out I was approached sold the huge one for a nice profit and my eyes lit up at the profit on demand that could be had.
My College friend has a family jewelry business, so it started a bad several years of a lot of buying nice watches, only to sell them weeks, months, or years later. I am proud to say I have never sold a watch for anywhere close to lower than what I originally paid. My 10 year old Explorer II and Explorer I sold for at least $1500. profit, same with all the reps, bands, straps, and buckles through the years.
I spent a lot of time researching and finding solid good quality, have been to Thailand and seen all sorts, live right across the border to Mexico and grew up with the Gucci watches that would turn your wrist green, so my passion started young and as a salesperson, I always hunted for the best quality and price, enjoyed it until the offer came as it always does, and it was sold on the spot usually.
No real attachment to any of them as I seem to always be eyeing something new in the same line as all the others and to me if someone wants it and appreciates that much and I have gotten some enjoyment out of it, then it's a win/win.
It has been a few years since I have been in the game, I have been looking online and a lot has changed. I like what I saw on here and hope to gain some knowledge from you all more up to date and experienced than myself.
Glad to be here and to soak up some knowledge of where to get my next PAM or Rolex Rep...
