    Default From Washington DC ....

Hi all. The name is Gary. I love toys. I've been looking for a while at different rep sites and liked this one the best, so I have joined. There are definitely a few watches I'm interested in getting and am looking forward to valuable information from the geeks on this site.

My (personal) take on reps: I would never buy a rep Rolex, Patek, Vascheron, Audemars Piguet and some others in order to wear the name. For me, these are sacred pieces. The good fortune is to own the real thing, or or forget about it.

The reps I am considering are the so called "art" watchs, where the look (and not the name) is what I am wearing. If I get "called out" on an art watch, like a Silberstein or a Graham, I won't care. And besides, some of these art watch manufacturers (like Hublot, Ulysse Nardin, and Breitling among others) charge thousands more than their competitors for a comparable watch because they think they are selling you a Picasso - a production Picasso.

Hope I haven't said anything inappropriate here.

Looking forward to being a member of this community.

Buy Panerai, and you'll have said all the right things, Gary.

    Welcome aboard, sir.

Are you recommending a genuine, or replica? Anyway, I don't really get Panerai. They are another one that seems unreasonably overpriced. But they do have a look.

Gary -- I recommend you buy a replica Panerai first, since you said you don't get Panerai. Once you buy a replica, you'll buy 40 of them, then you'll sell all of them to buy one genuine, then you'll start buying replica Panerais again.

    mattusss and MedP -

Tell you what, I will get a Panerai. But because my mo is to research something to DEATH before I buy, I would appreciate a little direction here cause I'm burned out from researching Maxi Marine Diver, Silberstein and Graham for the past couple months.

It must be a chrono, and a I'd like a larger size like at least 42mm, 44 - 46 is good, up to 50 is OK. Would you have a dealer to recommend or know of a model I might look to?
