    Default Hello and happy christmas

    I have come over to the dark/light side (depending on your point of view) of gen watches. My interest is almost purely automatics and my collection is heavily biased towards military and divers; subs and sub derivatives are my weakness.

    The reason for joining this forum is to get some guidance on buying decent reps particularly vintage sports Rolex. I am wearing a green sub (which i believe to be the real deal and paid accordingly) as I type but am seriously doubting the wisdom of paying for high end watches when decent reps can be found with perfectly respectable ETA's within.

    Still struggling a little with the 'fake' label issue and all it entails but when the Swiss watch houses are inflating their prices so much I think their lack of respect deserves a little reciprocation.

    You should see the amount of froth, venom and vitreolic posting goes on in the gen watch forums regarding rep watches. It is reading most of a 20+ page thread that lead me to this forum actually - luvin THAT irony!

    Welcome to the forum.

    I also see little reason to buy some of the gens since you can get 98% close with the same quality for a fraction of the price.

    I started with a couple of automatic and a number of quartz (all gen) and now I'm selling all my gens and buying much better quality reps.

    The only downside of the forum is that now I have more the 20 reps but it's hard to control yourself when you see what's discussed here.
