Default Come get me - I'm a noob, so this has probably been discussed before

A forum doesn't grow without noobs - agreed?

So, why bother flaming...? If you've seen it before, hire a copy of Bambi, take note of the wise words of Thumper, BREEEEEATHE and say something nice... I'd rather be a noob with 20 posts - all as a result of something positive - than a jaded, cynical, whinging, stagnated veteran with 1000+ posts, the last 500 of which pertain to shaking your fist at noobs....

As a noob, I have to say my experience with most everyone has been great.... Guys like RealReplica, louisruby, donm68, narikaa, Brobert, alanytical etc have made finding this forum a great pleasure for me, im sure all would agree they're assets around here. A lot of that is given to the fact that they are empathetic, therefore understanding and helpful.

    GAFL!

And yes, im aware of the slightly hypocritical nature of this thread! Lol. I don't like whingers, so i thought I'd have a whinge!!!!
I don't take this too seriously.

I for one am glad to see new blood coming in- it is what keeps the place going and vital.

Sure some questions get asked over and over but our search function is kinda FUBAR at the moment and a lot of times the response they get to a "noob" question determines whether they will stay or move to another forum.

I agree. If a new guy asks a question, either answer it or move on. No sense in being an arse-hole about it. I thought this was supposed to be a "community"

I hope the noobs keep asking because that shows that RG keeps growing.

The amazing thing is that all RG vets were once noobs. Funny how that works.

I agree with you guys. No sense in being a d!ick about a simple question that may have been asked about a thousand times before. Typically you don't get arse-hole answers, but every once in a while it will occur.

Keep the questions coming and eventually the noobs will become vets and they will answer those same questions to incoming noobs.

Lots of question of a similar nature come up constantly.

Noobs are told to use search etc - well it has never really worked all that well for as far as I remember. it has its OK days and not so good ones.

If you don't want to help with a question - easy , move on.

I can't count how many questions I have answered for members by spending about 10 seconds on Google...

We are a community - ask away new guys - we are here to help.

i find it humorous that some people will actually spend more space typing some hateful comment about someones question that it would have taken to answer the question...lol

I'm a noob too. And I don't know if it's the search or just the size of this forum, but i also have a hard time navigating.

Not too long ago I was a noob and in many areas I still am and I still ask for the forum's help on regular occasions. The way I was treated from the start over here was what made me choose this forum over any other. This was the last replica forum I registered in and it became my home.
I can't see anything more important in a discussion forum than helping newcomers, yes they make us grow in number but is not that what makes it so important. Who was BK before he started? He was a Noob! Who was VDB before he started? You guessed it a noob.
So who knows what this noob or that noob are going to become in a couple of years time? Everyone is important in this community and although I can see that some threads do become a bit annoying when they pop every 2 months, these threads are the reason that RG exists, if people didn't post their questions and ideas we wouldn't have a discussion forum.

The idea of RG is that anyone can join and ask anything at anytime without the fear of being flamed or labeled. Noobs are noobs and I'm one too in many areas. Nobody knows everything that's why its so great to have 30000 thinking heads working together on one's problems, issues, etc.

So and to sum it up...

If you have a question, just ask away
And remember to enjoy the forums

PS: By the way this is the 10000th thread on the issue, you should have used the search function!

I tend to be very patient with children, animals and noobs. It's the self-appointed "experts" that can occasionally raise my ire.

    Title = awesome!

    It's not a low post count that a noob gets flamed, it's their attitude;
it's the attitude that a lot of people with a low post count have in common.

The ones I see get flamed are the ones who want us to tell them the best rep so they can buy it without doing any work and without wanting to contribute anything to the forum.

Not every noob has that attitude of "gimme the best fake watch, I don't care enough to read the forums or take the time to learn anything, but you guys did so tell me who's the guys name with the best sub"

Not all noobs are like that and I gladly welcome those without this attitude.

noobs are like vigins, you have to treat them gentle

The only thing I hate of (some noobs) is.. I often get PM's with questions about which watch to choose, which dealer to choose, having watch problems, were to get parts, etc etc.
Always I take the time to answer these with many words.

After my advise and explanations often NOT EVEN A THANK YOU!

    But neverless I like virgins

That, IMO, is just plain rude - and noone should make excuses for a lack of common courtesy and decency!

Clearly, the solution is that everyone behaves perfectly... lke us, right?

Knowing HOW to search is often the issue for noobs, like do they know how what a wildcard is and how to use it. Google may be your friend but if you don't know what to look for, it can be maddening. The thing noobs don't often realize is that they should read every sticky in every remotely related forum before asking their question. This also means that admins have a responsibility to maintain that info and keep it fresh. It's a two way street.

That being said, this forum seems to me to be one of the best with regard to welcoming newcomers. I'm damn impressed. The upcoming Sixbennetts raffle might be the coolest thing I've ever seen on a site such as this. Keep up the good work, repgeeks.
