There are a few, of course, that really do do everything in-house, more now than 25 years ago. I believe, but am not completely sure, when the price of mechanical watches increased, watch aficionados decided they needed more value for the thousands they were pending. Apparently partnerships and asking advantage of economies of scale is seen as antithesis of the luxury watch industry. It happens in the automotive sector and in the furniture industry (via licensing, mainly) but people get indignant when one watch contains parts from another watch, especially from a less exclusive brand. For an example of this, just look at the Tag Heuer Caliber 1887 debacle. Boy, people were silly about that! Thanks for comment and enjoying the post!
