    Default Hello from a Canadian

I am fairly new to the rep world, a few real cheapies not really worth mention and a couple of NYC Canal street specials. Hoping to get a a couple of better reps soon, just a bit leery of CC transactions, even with TDs. Maybe a M2M buy first if I can find the watch I want.

Want to get good a couple that are true to the gens, not necessarily exact copies, like proper date fonts etc, but they gotta look like the gens and with working complications. Just need to decide which ones I want to start with, current ones on the list are Breitling Chronomat, Ulysses Nardin Maxi Marine Chrono, and something a little more dressy, but haven't really found one that grabs me yet.

Any advice or recommendations are helpful.

Any of the new Breitlings are bang on. Super Avenger, Steelfish, Abyss 44mm etc. Dressy watch I'd recommend any of the newer Panerai reps.

Thanks, I'll look at the Panerais. I wish I could afford a working tourbillon but they are out of the budget for sure. I have a Breitling with a faux tourbillon with an exposed escapement - a feature that the never actually made. Still kind of cool.

Thanks Daytona. A good perspective on things. While new to rep watches, I have been around this block on other boards with high end sports equipment, radio control toys etc. I appreciate that I no reputation here and that this can get a bit more tricky than other things and need to do the prerequisite reading but at some point I have to take that leap of faith.

Hey Reegs, let me know how it goes. I am not ready to pull the trigger for a few weeks yet, but would be interested in hearing your experience.

I think I have it narrowed down to a Ulysses Nardin but undecided between a the Maxi Marine Diver - blue surf or the Chronograph. If I go with the blue surf, which is cheaper I may just go for another dress watch like the Breguet Classique

Welcome to both of you from a fellow Canadian.

For what it's worth, I've purchased dozens from the TD's on these forums. Never had any issues with my CC or customs.

The 42mm Abyss is a great rep. Mine didn't leave my wrist all summer.

I spent too much time online. I am now thinking about a Ulysses Nardin Maxi Marine Diver or Diver Chronograph. Too many choices!

I hear ya. I thought I had it narrowed down to two choices that at least looked close to their gens only to find out that they are no longer rep'd so the hunt is on again. I want to get something that is fairly close, that at least at first glance looks gen. I know small details will always be off but there are lots of reps I have look at that I can't find a corresponding gen.

All I know is the I have a cheapie Breitling that doesn't resemble any gen Breitling (tourbillon, perpetual calendar chronomat). The date doesn't work anymore and the month complication never did - both are manual pushers, and now it bugs me just looking at it. It may just be the watch I take apart for fun once I get a replacement.
