I've been a member for a while but never posted anything. I have never really been a rep guy but I find the information on here very good. i have a coworker who told me about this site. He has a large collection of reps and gens and we talk watches regularly. After wearing one of his Rolex dssd for a day I realized that it did not work for me and at that point his comment about buying the rep to see if I liked it before paying for the gen made a lot of sense. I also like the fact that I mod a rep and not be out much money while having something unique.

Welcome to the forum c12mech! If reps really don't work for you but you want to limit your expense, you can always look into homage pieces, That way you aren't wearing a "Fake", while still wearing a watch with the same design.

You are correct.

I have nothing against the reps. Some are very good and I do like some of the fantasy watches as well. I also like some of the homage pieces and franken pieces that I am seeing. I like to tinker so that is what really interests me.

c12, after you find a really nice rep, you'll be in awe of how close they can be to gen, if it matters. I just like them for the quality watches you can get for a reasonable price. When I see a $300 watch that for all practical purposes is the same as a $8000 one, I get a good chuckle out of it. But yeah, they are fun to play with. Modding can be fun when you have a lot of spare time on your hands.

If I was in Gitmo, I'd rather be fishing.........

I certainly understand about price difference. Especially when I see a decorated ETA movement in a 20K watch. My friend has some very good reps that I have looked over and do appreciate the quality.

A lot of people fish or dive here but I am not one of them. Just not for me.
