Default new member looking for advice re panerai

    hi,

I am new to the forum.

I purchased a couple of replica's a few years ago.

A rolex and a panerai. Rolex still going strong but the panerai has broken.

I am looking for a new pan replica. I bought a swiss pam 176 recently but it broke within a few weeks i returned it but it disappeared in the post!

So not been having much luck!

I love the pam 292 but have been advised that its just new out and I would be better going for a pam 111 or 177. These would be more realistic and reliable?

I have read a few posts but now confused as there seems to be so many options out there.

Can anyone recommend a really authentic looking pam 111 or 177 which is close to the original one as possible and is reliable? preferably swiss than asian movement.

Also a link to the dealers site for the recommened would be great.

    hope someone can help.

    cheers

    no, you're good, welcome aboard

there's a lot of info around about the various pams

best bet is to go to the panerai section and read through the sticky messages at the top.. theres some really good info in there

the 292 isn't quite there yet, but the latest one is starting to look a bit closer..

did you get tracking when you returned your pam? if so, your dealer should be able to work with you on that... if no tracking, at least you'll know for next time.

if you are really anal retentive, the 111 sandwich dial pams are not your best bet.. they are pretty flawed, despite being beautiful watches all the same.

a nice sausage dial is a lot closer to genuine.

they tend to be fairly reliable, unless you are sent a crap one...

movements for these are also cheap, so replacement of a movement will cost you like 40-50 bucks plus labor if you cant do it yourself
    ... 2020...

    brab,

    Welcome to RepGeek!

Enjoy and make yourself at home.

The panerai section, as Waffle mentioned, has a great deal of information. My only suggestion would be to take your time and do your homework. It's all here and more, just takes a bit of patience and some review. Well worth the wait though!

    Cheers

    hi thanks for the welcome.

I will have a look at the panerai section.

I do like the look of the sandwich dials but can you tell me what a sausage dial is?

sorry if its a stupid question! ;-)

"sausage" dial refers to the way the luminescent hour markers are applied... Different dials for different models/years. The lume is just painted on top of the dial and not sandwiched between the layers.. Upclose in super macro pics, the sausage dial hour markers look like little... well... sausages laying on the dial. its just the lumpy look to the lume.
