Scammer Alert: rj4571

Just a heads up, I purchased a Sea Dweller from rj4571 at the beginning of February:

Shortly after the purchase he went radio silence. I also got suspicious when the pictures on the sales thread were deleted. He has not had activity on RG since February 8. I never received the watch, never got a tracking number, he will not respond to emails or PMs, nothing. While he had no sales feedback, he was someone that had been a member for almost a year with several hundred posts. I kept thinking this cannot be a scam, but at this point I have no reason to believe that it was anything other than a scam. Caveat emptor.

What does the forum suggest you do in a situation like this suggest? Have you read the FAQ's?

I contacted both Projectologist and Nembo. Projectologist responded and tried to contact the member. Never heard from Nembo.

Yes Paypal Gift or Paypal services. The whole point of not mentioning watch anywhere on PP and not gifting it, is that after 45 day of you and mods trying to get things resolved, is to have that protection. Never ever gift. I do feel for you as A$$holes are everywhere thinking they can come up with quick cash by ripping off a 1-2 people per forum at the same time. while the only net a couple grand at most, they may be gambling junkies and the reason you can't find them is that their bookie had them pound into a rehab hospital, or..they were hit by a car. I am always leery of many of the offers offered in the Rep trade area, even in the VIP. I have purchased 2 watches from other members, and I may have paid a bit oo much, on one, but the watch was mint and the strap was nice, but used gently. The other was a great purchase of a homage.

I see some frankness and mods and wonder why they expect others to pay for the mods of franken projects that they don't seem to be happy with. franken are always a risky buy, but as it has been said before Caveat Emptor.

You got his address?? Maybe start ordering him some 'choice' catalogues. Might not get him to respond but should hopefully give him an 'interesting' home life.

According to the thread, someone else said that they sent a payment. Check with him and see if he received what he paid for. rs50master was the forum members username.

I had the same type problem on another forum. I contacted Paypal and started a claim. I told them I bought a watch from the guy and he never sent the watch. I NEVER used the word replica or anything similar, just WATCH. They never asked what type or brand of watch.
I got a complete refund. It took about 4-5 weeks.

Sorry to hear of your problems. As Snafubar says, best just to say it was a watch to PP, and not give them too much information. I hope you get the refund.

Did a quick google search with his username to see if he's active anywhere else. Didn't even know what to say when I saw the second link, other than it looks like reps aren't his only hobby!
