Default Hello from Seattle Wa USA.

    Hello,

I have spent some time reading and feel I need to introduce myself and finally join the community!

I am a watchsmith here in the the beautiful city of Seattle.

Ok, a little blurb about me.

The shops I have worked for have always had strict No Service Policies for fake watches. Believe it or not, the owners of most fakes brought in are much, much, more finicky and more apt to complain than those who own the genuine article. The result being that up until recently I have had very limited interaction with fakes at the level of quality I have seen here as of late.

Oh yeah.... let me say up front that I have NO DESIRE to service ANY watches sent blind from ANY forum, Genuine or Replica! I am old, and crotchety, and like dealing with my customers face to face so we can talk about the work to be performed. Basically I just wanted to be clear that I am not here to drum up business nor take business away from your established service individuals! They have worked hard to earn their places. But I think after 18 years in the trade I may be able to add a little bit here and there to the great body of forum knowledge.

    So lastly...

I have a few replicas that have come into my possession. I have repaired them but "modding" them appeals to me. I can't go nuts grinding and changing up a Rolex or JLC with severely destroying its value. I have worn the same Submariner day in and day out for 9 years now so wearing the replicas also doesn't appeal to me much.

BUT!!!! The HUNT and PROCESS of building a better watch appeals to me greatly!

    Thanks for your time!

I would have to say that personally, my favorite movement is the JLC 899. Fit is impeccable, ceramic bearings, and always a good time keeper. Yes ,some argue that the 89* series could have a finer finish but from a service stand point, JLC89* series movements are a personal favorite.

so far it seems us Washingtonians are too busy to attend a proper GTG
all the SEATAC crowd i've met is usually on a one-on-one basis
and then there are a few locals (to me) i haven't met yet

the Oregonians are far better at the group stuff & were last heard of planning a proper GTG later this year ... perhaps one of them will chime in
