PayPal Freinds and Family- the Scammers friend
I think it would be in the best interest of all Repgeek members if Paypal Friends and Family was Not a accepted form of payment ? As the buyer if you use this form of payment you have absolutely No recourse with Paypal, once the money is sent its gone ! This form of payment clearly was Not meant for commercial sales ! Sellers should be stopped from asking for this form of payment ! As a buyer I'm willing to pay the additional PP fees but I want protection if the deal goes south as in any normal commercial transaction. Many new and old members are totally unaware of the hazards of this type of payment and Repgeek needs to do something about this.

Good point. I never agree to that unless I have dealt with the seller more than once, and even that's not a sure thing but...at least there's a track record.

Good point. Also why from TD I pay with a credit card just to have some protection.

The issue is , I believe , we are buying and selling counterfeit goods, PayPal would not take a liking to this, and I presume would not get involved .
Maybe you could try telling them you bought a toy from Cullyp for 300 and it was faulty ,,,,,,,,I don’t think so !

I agree in principle but what is the alternative? We are dealing in an area that is not legitimate. I would like the piece of mind also but I am unsure what would be the best solution for all concerned.

I think PP F&F feature is exclusive only to USA based bank accounts?
I never had to pay or receive funds with this feature ever since, thank god!

If you pay by F&F using your credit card, I'm sure you are still protected by your creditcard/bank.

Makes no sense. If you are the seller, the buyer can easily claim that the parts he received are counterfeit or he received a brick, then the seller is screwed bcz paypal is going to favor the buyer 99% of the time.
Thats why they say, buy the seller, not the watch. Deal with reputable sellers and majority of the time, you will be fine.

If I was selling a rep, I'm sure as hell not taking goods and services from some noob with no feedback. If they want the watch I might take f&f. If people would participate and contribute to the forum a little bit it wouldn't be an issue. There's lots of forums out there with tons of rules for m2m sales, I prefer the self-policing style of Repgeek the most because the unfortunate reality is there is little to nothing the mods can do when someone gets scammed in m2m. Without contributing and building some feedback the buyers should buy the seller and expect well known trustable members to want f&f payments. So a blanket rule is only going to prevent forum vets from selling pieces to new members and hurt everyone in the process.

100% is a 2 sided situation here, you have to think about the seller too. To put into perspective, a lot of TDs don't accept PayPal because you got buyer pulling this fake item excuse and screwing TDs over.
I have bought and sold items here, the first thing I do buying from a member is look at their post histories to see how long they were a member, have they sold anything? Talked or discussed about anything? I also look at the buyers profile as well. I usually do WhatsApp just so I can converse with them to ensure I am comfortable with them. As a seller I whatapp them the package photos and tracking receipt to ensue they know my progress on the shipping etc.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions and this post is a perfect example of that. I say this as somebody who is more often a buyer than a seller but PP F&F is the only protection a seller can really have in this game and they often need it more than a buyer from what I have seen. It's quite a bit easier to vet a seller than a buyer and paypal will always side with the buyer in this game.
Vet people, don't buy from some newb with a too good to be true offer and you should be protected decently.
