New member coming in...

I’ve been lurking here for a few months now (thanks to r/reptime), and joined about two months ago. So, I guess I should introduce myself! I bought my first rep about 20 years ago through Yahoo! when they had a marketplace section. It was an automatic Breitling Colt Ocean, w/textured blue dial & TT/SS bracelet for $75! Well, you get what you pay for, because after about two years, a lot of the gold was rubbed off and the movement died. I have not wasted any time here, as I write this, I’ve already got 3 reps in hand, and another on order with a TD (lol).
I’m a collector of what I deem affordable. I have a few micro-brand watches, some Japanese watches (of course), a few inherited watches and some miscellaneous stuff. I could buy a gen watch, but I could get at least 3 or 4 reps with that kind of money. I like variety, that’s what “collecting” is all about. Also, with a gen, I probably wouldn’t wear it for fear of damaging it and loosing value or having to pay hundreds (or thousands) to repair it, or it getting stolen.
I am amazed at the variety and quality of watches from the various TD’s! I’ve already spent hours (and more hours!) looking at their offerings. Every TD brings something different to the community, a lot of the specials/sales are extremely tempting, even if it’s not the watch I was looking for. I think the hunt is 90% of the fun of collecting!
