Re-intro from an oldtimer...
"The reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated" - Mark Twain.
I have survived. Some of you may remember me. I'm Donny from upstate NY, near Montreal. I've recently recovered from a major battle with brain cancer, which involved actually removing about ¼ pound of gray matter. I've forgotten a lot from the last 10-15 years, but my neurologist, oncologist, and therapist all suggested logging back into some of the sites I used to post in, to try to spark memories.
I only had one replica left after selling everything off to keep us in our home. Also sold both motorcycles, and the motorcycle camper. But it worked! We are still in our home. My wife tells me I was constantly sending out watch parts for free to members that needed something. I*think they were scavenged from broken watches, both my own and some from my old friend Stan, (WBK). We are still in touch.
Other members here I remember because I have a feeling I owe them a great debt. Dave123 and SFA437(?) stick out in my head, though I don't know why. Hopefully it will come back to me as I read through old posts. It will take time.
I ask for patience from all on the forum as I try to rebuild my noodle. I also have a small problem with converting new memories to old, so if I ask the same thing over again, please overlook it. I might not be posting much at first, but as my capacity improves, I'll try to jump in more. I donated $50 to support the forum, and now that the VA has finally recognized my past injuries and illnesses, I'd like to give more.
Sorry I was gone so long.
Donny

One of the better reasons I’ve heard for having this community. We wish you well and look forward to hearing more from you. It sounds as if you have really been through the mill but reading this post it seems pretty certain that you are well on the road to recovery. Very best wishes for the future.

@sixbennetts
I remember you from the past and often wondered what happened to you as you were no longer posting.
WOW - What an ordeal you faced with brain cancer to beat it, go through it, and recover from it. An amazing journey you have gone through.
Welcome back.
If there is anything I can do to help your return back to RG send me a PM and if you are willing send me your phone number so we can talk.
We are hear to help you out with your recovery and journey and look forward to you re establishing yourself on RG.
I recall you posting about your health situation a number of years ago and we were concerned you would not beat brain cancer.
WELL DONE AND KEEP THE FAITH.

Hard to believe your last posts on RG were in 2012 about 12 years ago as per below RG link:

May I suggest that
@sixbennetts
gets a RG award for the comeback RG member who has beaten cancer and is back to RG after battling brain cancer for 11 years and not posting since 2012
His post has made my day and his the post for this thread is the best of the year for 2023 for a RG thread.

It's great to see you are back, and we are all wishing you the best on your recovery. I can't imagine everything you've had to go through. So many changes in the rep world over the last decade, and at times this forum seemed to have gone really quiet here and there. It's nice to see long time members reappearing.
Wishing you all the best!

Wow, guys! I'm amazed. These screen names and avatars are like trying to find a watch pin in a shag rug. You KNOW it's there, you just don't know exactly where. I remember all of you, but I I don't remember why.
But that's good enough for me for now! Thanks for the welcome back.

Great to see you posting again.
Looks as if Donny's post has brought out the RG old timers.

The only thing I had left was a white face Chrono Evolution with a 21j I got long ago from my old friend WBK. It's missing the chrono hands and two bezel indices, if anybody has those kicking around. Just more parts missing from my own watches I sent out for free to someone who needed hem more!
Most of my time now is spent trying to remember stuff. I'm slowly reading my old posts, and interactions with all of you. I'm also trying to track down some of the watches I sold, and PMing the current owners to maybe buy them back. It's good exercise for the old noodle! (Gotta be careful, though. My therapist said it's better to remember a little bit at a time, because the big whoosh of remembering everything at once could break me.)

Glad to see Donny is well. I had donated a gen Breitling to raise funds for treatment, that was many years ago and I rarely log on anymore but I'm glad I did today and read this great news Donny. 🙂
