I just think she has something to offer the community as a whole and has gone beyond just posting a review here or there.

I for one welcome her advice and I think others have as well. Got a good split on the vote- does that mean 1/2 want to get in her pants and 1/2 don't?

Just think it was something to be thrown out and discussed- no reason to turn it into a flame fest.
It's not about 'getting laid'. I dont think anyone here things that being nice to a girl on the internet is goig to get him laid. I cant explain the phenomenon, just that it happens, again and again... you hate to see it.

Just saying, I'm not even sure what that HALLEIUYAH! comment was referring to.. it sounded like you were posting agreement to your own idea

    just my humble opinion.

    whatever, doesnt matter..

i'm out. i can see i'm fighting a losing battle

what is the point of a section mod anyway? in cases where things are not about them specifically (like dealer threads).

Serious question... so.. a section mod can moderate.. but what is there to moderate?

the threads are going to be read by current admin regardless, so anything out of line will be handled...

It's OK sfa - you did not cause a ruckus. Simply an idea and a discussion w fellow RepGeeks.

This smaller category is in the works and has been - there will be a small area created where members will be able to showcase their replica accessories/'style' type of posts. Not as expansive and detailed as you may be thinking, but it will be stellar with out a doubt.

Regarding any Moderator joining the team, thats private 'in house' as I call it, business. There really is quite a bit of discussion that goes into that process - its important to me we remain The Varsity and something I/we take seriously.

To answer the question quickly, I do not believe we will need a Moderator for the proposed area. It's not going to be a full blown, all the bells and whistles area.

I enjoy the style type of posts too, certainly makes it easier to understand the bride and as someone pointed out, we do have a very active and engaged female membership.

Again, not a problem at all sfa - no harm, no foul.

    Enjoy RepGeek

Welcome to RepGeek - fun, friendly, flame free and informative.

I most definitely do enjoy RepGeek, other than looking at my WU reciepts at the end of the month!

I took my cues from other forums I belong to where each sub-forum has got it's own mod.

I guess that is why I should not make assumptions- I make an a$$ of umption- or something like that )

    Sections for everyone!

I'm sure theres a plugin for VB that allows filtering of 'new posts' to remove sections people arent interested in... install that, people set the preferece, and bob's your uncle

I think Posh is correct when she points out that we obsess over details in watches and then don't put the rest of the ensemble together. I for one love her writing and would be very interested in a style section.

I don't really care who does the posting (girl or guy) as long as it's informative and useful.

We already have a style section, it's right here: www.gq.com

Seriously... reviews on replica clothing/accessories is one thing, but a whole style section? That's too much, imo.

Problem solved then. I mean, everyone here is using it, right?

Where's the section in Gentleman's Quarterly that has in-house help applicable to the needs of the replica shopper?

    Look at it this way-

How many "What is the classiest watch" posts float around? How many "What is a good business watch" posts?

I like VC watches but I have no clue how to pull one off, probably never be in the income category to own the clothing, wallet, cell phone etc. if I did.

If I do ever break out of the sub 150K income level I would like to know how though. I'm sure a lot of us would like to know too.

We have access to someone willing to put in a lot of time to put things together for us. Someone with a good sense of style and good writing/posting skills. I say we exploit the generosity offered.

It has nothing to do with Posh being a female or anyone trying to get in her pants. What it does have to do with is collecting questions that a lot of us have anyway and putting them in one sub-forum.

She is responsive to questions asked and is usually spot-on with her advice on what goes with what.

Personally I'm going to be bugging the living s**t out of her when I get out of the sandbox and back into my cushy EP gig in NYC. I'm going to need LOTS of fashion help to blend into a crowd of 7 figure income types. Wouldn't it be better to share the info that I get (hopefully) with everyone else, rather than keep it to PM messages or a post that'll get lost in the clutter?

I don't need to be a mod. Please, please, PLEASE don't put my name up as part of this. I don't need ANYMORE kicks (subtle or overt) to go with the kisses. It's a hard-knock life.

I tried to stay out of this because I'll never hear the end of it, one way or another. The number of votes already tells me what my presence may be causing.

Let's have fun, discuss and look great while doing it, whether in a style section or a mud hut. I'll keep writing and advising either way.

Posh you know you're going to be sick of my "Does this tie go with this suit" questions. My wife, as beautiful, sexy and intelligent as she is is significantly fashion impaired.

Great. Now I know who to look out for. Just kidding. Laugh Out Loud. I have tried to stay out of this for as long as I could but I would like to say a little on my own behalf about this.

This is my way to contribute to the board. I don't buy a bunch of watches nor am I going to in the foreseeable future. But I love them and I always have. I have fun here and got an Explorer I (not the BEST Explorer I) with the help of this, not particularly RepGeek, community. I posted a bit but didn't have as much time to do so as I do now, thanks to a cushy career with a friend's firm. Now I do. I come in and have fun and wanted to do something.

I look around and, it turns out, there's a lot of fixer-uppers around here in this neighborhood. You got all these houses with faded paint, unmowed lawns (or no lawns!), an extra addition to the house that wasn't there when it was originally built and then a brand new $30,000 front door. Nothing is worse than seeing $30,000 front door on a decrepit house (decrepit involves anything). I thought my bit of assistance would be telling the homeowner (could be you or your wife or significant other) how to make the house match the door. That's it.

And some of you already know I will put in the same critique and detailed analysis in my private messages about picking and choosing clothes, watches, shoes and bags as I put into my public postings and I will continue to do so for as long as I can. I will give suggestions but also, most importantly, I will tell you why I made the choices made. The one thing I hate most is someone giving advice with NO reasoning or thoughts as to why they made the choices in the first place.

This is my creative outlet for all the fashion and style advice built up over time. The only place you're likely to find this kind of detailed information is by writing Gentleman's Quarterly or Vogue personally. The devil is in the details.

Some people are like slinkies... not really good for anything, but both bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

Personally I don't need any of it.

And I have to confess that I usually tend to ignore so called "style gurus" and have done for years. I also avoid like the plague any of the mid shelf "style" magazines as I find them quite irrelevant.

In fact I find it amusing that most of their editors and writers when "off duty" in their own homes (have you seen some of their homes!) doing their own thing and even as they write this stuff in the office, tend to dress like everyone else and NOT in their "must do's and "must have" flavour of the month created style suggestions.

I hasten to add this is not a "go" at anyone here, just MHO. As to Posh - I'm fairly new and don't know all the posters, but from what I've seen so far and indeed in her replies to this style thing she seems a pretty sensible lady.

However as for style advice (from whoever), this predisposes that the advisor knows so much more than the advisee. That seems to me to be somewhat over-presumptious. But discussion, that's OK.

I can be as stylish or as well dressed as I wish to be, or indeed as others are comfortable with and I don't find myself in a dilemma as to which clothes I should wear with any particular watch on my wrist either. I have a house and car and a way of life that I like just fine and I've never had trouble matching colours or furniture or room design. I'm happy.
I also have no desire to be advised or lectured by people who I might possibly consider ill qualified to actually tell me anything.
And I'm certainly no upwardly mobile 30'something in the city - I left all that nonsense behind some 40 years ago.

So why in this forum (watch forum) - well I collect watches, both genuine and replica and I try to collect "stylish" watches - whatever that means...
I'm sure there are style forums out there and I'm sure they have well supported memberships - but not for me - I prefer a nice simple watch forum......like this.
