been a lurker on repgeek for the past couple months, only signed up last week. started browsing the threads after buying a rep (a horrible one, now that i've read quite a few comparos ;-) ) - a luminor marina panerai pictured below (sorry for the bad quality, camphone shot):



yep, really bad, but i didn't know any better. got it for like, 20 USD. automatic movement stops after 2 hours off my wrist, strap is rubber and the date magnifier magnifies at less than 1x. but it's my 1st rep and i love wearing it as a daily beater. conversation piece too, as its so big and i got small arms and wrists.

i'd definitely scrutinize my next couple of rep purchases (a Tag and a B&R) based on what i've learned here, instead of just picking out what looks nice and big and easy to read. BR01 and 02 are available here at the commercial center (all reps), as well as a thousand types of Tags.

just one question: do the dealers here ship to southeast asia? you fellas in north america get the best quality reps, based on the pics i've seen here. we 3rd world guys get canal street quality reps, hehe.

99.9% of all the reps originate from Asia (China, Thailand, Korea etc.). I have been buying reps for years now and all the reps that are available to our friends in US/Europe/Oz etc. are available here in Asia as well. I do not know of any major dealer who does not ship to SEA (other than some UK/CONUS based dealers....where it wouldn't make sense to buy from them).

btw...which 3rd world country are you in?

Where are you in SE Asia. If you know were to look, you can get some great reps over there. In most cases you will end up spending much less that we do here.

replica watches are sold here in either of two big commercial centers. sellers set up shop with display cases as big as household refrigerators - although the finer reps generally get smaller cases mounted next to where the seller sits (for security?).

quality varies. been browsing the panerai and tag forums for awhile, looking at comparisons.

i've been to HK once, and while they got rep shops there too, they have this extra service where you give them a pic of a gen you like, and they'll copy it - or you can pick one out of a very nice catalog.

I have been to Greenhills a few times in Manila. You can get some decent reps there....need to know where to look. Was there a few weeks back and was pleasantly surprised to see the new U-Boat reps already there....same time as they were released by our major dealers here.

You can order from any major dealer and they will deliver to Phil.

haha... green hills is what i'm talkin bout .

how do you rate the reps there? mostly bad, some good? i go there twice a month to check on the reps and i've yet to see the models you most frequently discuss here... mostly unknowns or hybrids, or a mix n match between models (white face on a model that never shipped with a white face).

there's this other place, Quiapo, where they sell reps.

I would agree....mostly crap reps in Greenhills. But I have seen some decent HBBs, U-boats and even a couple of decent PAMs there. Most of the watches there come from Korea.

Now where is this place "Quiapo"....in Manila? Have to visit the next time I am there.

You'd be better off buying watches from dealers on the board.

You will find better Reps in Angeles city and the more popular tourist places if you look hard enough lots of the foreign bar owners sell them or have access to them.

Philippines is not a huge market for Chinese reps like Thailand or even Cambodia or Vietnam but they are around just difficult to find.

Once you find them you will be ok although don't expect to save huge amounts on the prices there are savings but nothing like some of the prices you hear talked about on here where people have gone to GZ direct. In many cases you are as well to stick with the dealers on here that offer after sales it's well worth it for the small amount in price difference
