Default Hello and question re tourbillon vs faux

Hi. Just found this forum. Great resource. Wish I had found it sooner.

Anyway, I'll start with a question. Josh and Andrew both have very cheap (around $100) tourbillon watches that are described as "moving" faux tourbillons. I might just grab one, but can anyone describe to me what a faux tourbillon movement looks like? I've seen real tourbillons moving in person and on video, but I've never seen a faux one in motion. Do they move slower? In a different way?

I have one on a breitling and its basically a cut out window over a moving gear so that it moves back and forth... Its pretty cool but doesnt really look like a genuine tourby.

Thanks for the quick reply and the welcome. So instead of "flying" in circle, it just moves back and forth like a pendulum? Interesting.

I'm sort of on the "why not, it's $100?" thought right now.

    Why not its only $100.00

    exactly...

I bought an unbranded one with faux tourbillon.. and so far keep great time... its just cool to see the Tourbillon. I also has this one from ebay, actual functioning tourbillon

Looks smaller in person.. so i replace with SS bracelets.. looks better now.. and keep great time...

It is just a cut out over a gear. The gear happens to go back and forth, IE turn clockwise and then back counterclock wise again, but not like something moving through the window.
