Instant notification subscriptions to threads/forums

I realize we are able to subscribe to threads, but is there a method for subscribing to threads so we are able to receive instant notification if a new thread is created, or if a new comment is made in a specific thread? If there is, please let me know how, if there isn't, i think this would be a great addition to make information flow faster and provide instant feedback to member's questions and sales.

What you want are RSS feeds. Its proven a bit difficult to set up. Working out the kinks.

The way that I do it for thread that I want notified when there is a reply is to subscribe to the thread and setup e-mail alerts. This is the 21st century, so your phone should have e-mail that's gets pushed to your phone. I know within seconds that someone replied to the thread. It works the same for PMs as well.

I havn't been able to get them working again...

it goes on and off for me...right now I get zero notifications...before I get all of them...

Email works fine for me. Perhaps they are getting filtered out?

For instance, I subscribed to the sales forum, but I am only notified with a summary at the end of each day of what was listed. So by that time, the watches may be sold. I want to be notified immediately of a topic being created so I can jump on that sale and purchase it if I want it. The same goes for any other forums like pam, rolex, breitling etc. think how much more quickly questions could be answered by the veteran VIPs if they had instant notification of new topics or posts and they could pick and choose which to reply to, rather than browsing through each topic after the fact.
