Taiga Pegase w/ Odessa Laptop Case (Large Weekend Suitcase):
but $500 for a rep!? what does the original cost?
and is it really worth it?
from your experience, how well are these made?
    thanks.

The Taiga set, by the way, is probably that due to the use of leather. The Taiga line pieces are all leather. Is that what you were looking for?

Nice overview, but (from my extensive experience with rep LV luggage -- I own almost all these pieces and about another 30 models not shown here) I should point out several things:
1/ Highly recommend getting the LV catalog -- easiest to order rep LV luggage (or any LV item) by the serial code as listed in the catalog, which is updated every 3 years and is available at any LV store. The catalog is much more comprehensive that eLuxury or LV's site.
2/ The garment carrier which is actually copied is the 3-hanger version, not the 5-hanger as shown here and as claimed.
3/ The garment cover (2nd garment bag) shown here IS copied from an actual LV bag.
4/ The Sac Chasse is absolutely adorable, but very impractical and unwieldy.
5/ The Eole 50 rep is totally inaccurate, from teh handle grip on down.
6/ You will never get a replica ALzer or Conquerant 65 through US Customs. ALl the rep trunks have dark matte brass fittings, whereas the gen is shiny brass. The Damier Geant line (like the Conquerant) is VERY well knocked off.
7/ That Bosphore trolley shown here is dead wrong --it has 7 rows of LV logo, making it 60cm and totally non-gen -- the authentic Bosphore was made in the 50cm size, which is 6 rows of LV logo. The trolley handle grip and top strap are also dead wrong -- and the trim and finish are poor. I have 2 rep Bosphores -- 1 is identical to the non-gen one which is shown here, and the other is completely accurate to the gen -- both from the same supplier, so it's a crapshoot. Ironically, the non-gen version is actually more practical -- perfect carry-on size AND roomier than the gen.
8/ The Taiga Pegase is also off -- the trolley handle grip and strap handles are wrong. I have that identical non-gen replica. A couple of sellers show an accurate version on their sites, but I bet if it was ordered, the same non-gen version would actually be shipped. Great bag, by the way -- and much of the rest of the Taiga line has been knocked off VERY well.
9/ The Evasion is an athletic bag -- that little zippered compartment is for your, uh, aromatic socks/shoes. It's VERY well knocked off, and a very practical bag. The bag with the ziparound shoe compartment is a rep of a genuine bag -- can't remember the name -- nice bag.
10/ Alize 24-heures is a nice bag -- the Alize 2-Poches is even nicer. Some suppliers list teh 3-poches on their sites, but trust me, it's actually the 2-poches.
11/ That version of the soft beauty case, the Nice, is a lower-grade replica with bad trim and finish. Most suppliers now carry a perfect copy.
12/ That Satellite is wrong -- bad straps and corner finish -- I've never found a good rep of that bag.
13/ The Cruiser is VERY well knocked off -- nice bag with a real old-world flair, but the straps etc on top are a pain.
14/ The Steamer hasn't been knocked off in years -- I've been searching for that rep for 4 years -- I bet it's in a back room at the Baiyun Leather Center, but otherwise -- dream on...
    .

Thank you for adding your expertise, Quizzy! I, too, like the Sirius line and would have added it if I could find a place that was trusted that replicated it. Do you have suggestions?

I'm unsure but you may want to check with Quizvan as to whether or not Louis Vuitton made a Damier Geant like that. I don't think they did but I could be wrong. The line has been around only a short period of time compared to everything else in their line so I doubt I missed finding it. The good thing about a bag that may never have been made is that you can never be called on it.

Kate and I watched the The Darjeeling Limited the other night. She's two and already an Anderson fan. Anyway, I saw the luggage and immediately thought of you, Posh.

    Nice read.

By the by, is there a replica of either garment bag that's worth a damn?

Very good movie, Razor. I also am a HUGE fan of The Royal Tenebaums. LOVE IT!

The garment bags are fine. They are made to the same standard as the luggage. The suitcases that are not spot on to genuine are at the very least very, very well-made. You can't go wrong with either of them.

That's a great briefcase and you would look good with it. But you need the President Classeur with black trim like Hayden has below here. But it's perpetually sold out and people are always waitlisted for it. You never know when you'll get that call for it:

Do they have one like that, but with Julia Stiles holding it? I think that would work better for me.

Catcher, thank you!!!! I have never been able to find videos liek this when I'm on Youtube. This rocks. It also lets people know what goes into the construction of a $10,000 piece of luggage.

WOW that is a NICE briefcase! The combo of the earth tones of the LV face with the black trim makes it a lot more flexible too. Don't have to switch out the briefcase when I go from earth tones (my usual wear) to charcoal

Did you just say "earth tones?" I'm in love . . .
    LOL Yes I did.

My suits tend to browns and tans- not 70's style chocolate brown either. Khakis, sand and ecru (more to the greenish/grey than the yellow side) typically with forest, pine or dark olive to set it off and give a splash of vibrancy.

There are times however where my favorite palette won't work. Then I move to charcoal or steel grey with a classic white shirt.

That President Classeur with black trim can work with both. The LV brown and tan accents my typical wear while the black leather and silver studs mesh with my alternate dress.

It will even set off my typical watches- my UPO and my new fave the bronze SOH. It really is a versitile and attractive piece.

A winner all around. I owe you one for spotting that and posting a pic. I'd have never found it by myself.

It's an EXTREMELY popular briefcase. The one you're getting is about $3,000 and the President Classeur is $5,000. If I ever find a place that replicates it well, I'll let everyone know because I have been getting the question once a week since I did my first bag post.

Let everyone know how you like it when you get it.

    Well I'm doing a hybrid.

ReplicaEstore's basic briefcase with the tan leather.

Going to have a shoemaker back home remove the tacks and redye the leather to black.

Won't be 100% accurate as I don't think I will be able to source silver fittings etc but nothing in the rep world is ever 100%

Should be done in a couple months but since my shoemaker is Stateside I won't be able to post pics until January when I get home.

When this case is completed, you MUST show it to everyone. A Louis Vuitton MODIFICATION? Interesting . . .
